how come no body neva warn mi

for months now i been toying with the idea of putting in some braids. I was wanted a few weeks of long hair dont care and not having to worry about combing or styling and brushing out wig or weaves.

well mi dear. mi tek mi bright self say mi ago put in long braids go dung a mi batty. Jesus chris. it tek mi over one hour and try fi put it "up" in a way so mi can go bade. one would think this would be easy. hell no.

fuss of all u done know it tight and tender just wen it done. plus add on about 10 lbs of weight. If a never say mi pay mi money mi woulda dis cut dem off last night. Today I have managed to tie it up in a big huge knot on my head so i can go about house work etc. for going out i wore it down and that was fine...sort of. you dont feel teh weight so much wen it is down. but lawd massa NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

next hair do i still gonna go 18 inces or longer but it will be human and sew in. my experience is human hair no feel heavy. but i know i will be cursing and swearing wen mi fi sleep and mi head a hat mi an mi toss and turn.

i normally use "human" hair (ie: human hair blend) to do micro braids...and not longer than bout a little longer than shoulder length. Plus my braider , is very genkle and doan do it tight

I have done other styles with non human hair (senegal twist) and it heavy and give me headache. and from that never again.

I have done braids before but never this long. Its been some 5-6 yrs now mi no do braid, and know about the human vs synthetic ting. I think the weight is due to the length. if I had only done half this lenght, it would have been heavy but not unbearable. LOL.

mi giving myself till Friday to get use to the extra weight. If my neck muscles have not strengthen by them, then off they go. Fuss ting MR ask mi wen I told him wat i was getting was, How do you plan to go beach Mi might affi tek dem out after all else mi ago drowned

hmm....my senegal twists were not very long......(as the long long hair i find annoying)....but them was still relatively heavy

Listens attentively to this thread as I was condsidering getting dookie braids for girlkia but since she tenderheaded I think I may just end up with cornrows given big ooman vegas experience

may end up doing something like this then

even the cornrows can be too tight..the way some a them braiders operate.

watch the braider and tell girl kia not to fraid to talk up if she doing it too tight. Tell the braider seh u prefer it last for a shorter time than too tight

I not sure if mi tender headed but from ancient days netime mi get extensions cornrow or braided in my EVA inna pain. cornrows with just my natural hair are not so bad (unless weave sew on pan it).

the most relax and painfree style is to rope twist your own natural hair with no extensions. I would suggest that Kia. in my experience anytime false hair is added there is a degree of pain.

It only took an hour? You're good. I used to wear my hair like that and it would take almost a day to put them in each time. Make sure they don't make the braids too tight or you will eventually experience thinning in some areas. It's called traction alopecia.

I am not sure why you are having issues. Other than a low natural which gets boring after a while, it was the best easy care hairstyle I ever had. I wish I could go back to it.

Let me assure you a weave is much worse. I have never had one but I know a lot of women who do and there is nothing easy care about it plus it looks really fake... no scratch that...ridiculous. Stick with the braids. Let me give you a horror story. Years ago when my mom went to the hairdresser, a woman came in with a weave. It was removed. The woman's own hair was fairly long. Anyway, the hairdresser started to shampoo the hair and it just kept coming out in handfuls. The hairdresser was . She just kept shoving the hair into a cupboard. By the time she done,...de hair did peel off clean clean. My mother nearly .

The braiding took a live long day. after the girl braided it and hot water it and gone home, i had the task of getting it out of the way so i could take a shower. because it was still wet it was heavy ( and it heavy enough while dry), plus it is tender/tight as fresh braids tend to be.

i just decide u and dahjah would enjoy the laff to know dat i put myself thru all this. As for weaves i never have ne issues with hair loss. only time mi have hair loss is wen i have a glued on weave and mi no patient enough and rip it out etc. or when i have glued in in myself and was too slopy with the glue.

braids is not my usual ting. mi just dweet fi a change. and cus mi wanted to have long braided hair dunga mi waist. I stop doing braid and sew in weaves fi years now bcus of the pain( no care how di stylist gentle) and the long time it takes. I just want to have about an inch of new growth before mi next relax and cut

What kind of hair did you use? I ca't understand why it is so heavy. The only time it was a pain was when clients insisted I wear a wig. Fortunately it did not happen often but stuffing all those braids in a wig meant I had a colossal headache and I had to take nuff Advil to bare it.

one day i will tek a pic. the hair is down to my butt and we used about 8-9 packs of hair. and its synthetic hair. human hair would have been fine i think.
