Advice: How to cut my locs?!?!?!

I've been growing my hair for 6 years and I believe that it is time to cut them. My spirit seems to be telling me to cut them and be renewed. I wanted to know if anyone else has cut their locs or they know about someone's experience.

At the end of the day, I will listen to my instinct and cut it however i need to prepare.

Suggestions?

most ppl mi kno have said they regretted cutting dem. One ooman, de one who owns the Ashanti room on bloor said she was sick for two weeks, as it took all her strength away.

btw, this is the last place I'd come to ask bout MY locs.
These ppl would love nuttin more fi cut not only smaddies locs but dem choat tuh.

I felt renewed when I cut mine after six yrs ...mind yu I didnt grow it for religious reasons . I grew them because i like to keep my hair natural and had personal reasons for doing it . I kept my locks well groomed , but after 6 yrs I missed brushing my scalp. It had grown to my waist and was now causing some styling issues .
First thing I did was cut it to my shoulder. Then a few months later , on a drive from NY to Toronto , I used a comb and undid it (10 hrs).Kinda like undoing braids ..
It felt great .. lighter .. wore all kinds of styles .. went back to styling versatility..twists, low cuts ...etc ...
Good luck with ur decision .. take ur time and decide whats best for you at this time ...

locs can come undone like braids? I neva know dat before! I always thought it was BC (big cut) that was needed.

I am no expert on locs but if you feel the need to cut , you could try a shorter version of your locs 1st.

It will be six years since I've been growing my hair (May 2, 2008. I haven't been growing it for religious reasons as i do not practice any religions. However, I knew that there was a strength in growing my hair naturally and chemicals are ruining people's minds and bodies. I love my hair because it has helped me to empower myself because when I look at myself I see someone who is stronger than she truly knows. My reasons for growing were not vain. I didnt care what people including my job said about my hair. Cutting them is not because I miss styling my hair or combing it. It feels more spiritual than just physical.

Lately, it's like God is telling me it's time to stop relying on my hair to be my strength. I don't know if anyone understands where I'm coming from. Nonetheless, I appreciate the comments I have received and I will continue to make my decision. If I cut it'll all come off at once.
