Sometimes, when I know I'm going to have a busy afternoon, using the crock pot makes things go smoothly. Here are a couple simple recipes that always taste good:
Slow Cooked Chicken Legs
4 chicken legs (washed and skinned)
4-5 carrots(cut into 2" slices)
3-4 potatoes(quartered)
1 stalk celery(chopped)
onions or scallion(chopped)
1 package cock soup or chicken soup mix(sometimes I don't use the whole package..just enough)
a little fresh garlic or garlic powder
a little water on the bottom
pepper
Put the water in first, then some of the soup mix, the chicken, veg, and spices. Drizzle some of the liquid on top and sprinkle the remainder of soup mix. Cook on low 7-8 hours or on high 4-5 hours.
Works best when using a large crock pot.
Slow Cooked Steak
2-3 steaks (rib eye or sirloin or what have you)
holland style onions
nuff fresh garlic
cooking sherry
salt & pepper
Put a little water in the bottom.
Toss the onions, garlic, and spices on top. Pour cooking sherry over everything. Cook 4 hours on high or 6-7 on low.
I'm not much of a beef eater, and this one always tastes good to me. Very tasty served with angel hair pasta w/ a mild, light sauce(parma rosa is good) and steamed zucchini squash.
