Hi everyone, my grandmother use to make a plain cake that was to die for, but I can't seem to replicate it at all. Does any one have a plain cake recipe that they would like to share with me please.

Re: plain cake
I found these in my folder.
Plain Cake
1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
4 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Mix all ingredients well. Bake in layer or sheet cake. Use any desired frosting. Great with fudge frosting.
Plain cake
3 sticks butter
1 box powdered sugar
6 eggs
2 c. plain flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, almond or lemon flavoring (opt.)
Blend butter and powdered sugar. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each. Fold in flour and flavoring. Pour into greased and floured 9"x13" cake pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes
Plain Cake
1 1/4 c. sugar (can use 1/4 c. extra)
1/2 c. oil (can use 1/4 c. extra)
3 eggs
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
Mix all ingredients well and bake in 2 (9") pans. Or in one large 9"x13" pan (greased and floured). This is so good as plain cake with strawberries or as a fresh coconut cake with 7 minute frosting.
Grandma2 may come along with a great one, she always does, then i'll add it to my folder.
