Why all die hassle with African American, African Jamaican, etc. If you are American, you are American, and if you are Jamaican, you are Jamaican.

The prefix seem to be a classification attempt. the question is: What are the grounds for the classification, shouldn't citizen = citizen regardless of descent?

I am Jamaican, (and like a lot of Jamaican, is a melting pot of nations) and any other citizenship endowed is only a temporary measure as the means to an end.

Yahdie in the US, there is a need to consistently classify people in various groups. The current term for black people (ie people of african descent) is African American. Yet as we know not all people of African descent are American, hence the question from Sweetssop.
