mi agree with that nuetral no social net so when yu drap a rock bottom yu get, but is that the majority of jamaicans though, not you per se but several people mi hear recently mek yard sound like Sudan or sound country weh people just a walk round a kick rock stone with bare foot, teif, and kill and that is not reality cause nuff people would not be in other sections counting down to a nightmare. Mi agree wid most a whe yu seh except the majority statement, 51% of Jamaicans not bruk pockit, living noh nightmare.

mi noh write trip report but dis is what mi wake to a morning time before mi did reach a town, whe pretty soh and belive mi... dis aint no night mare, just made mi even more commited fi try and work harda and get the resources in place to afford mi return. My Jamaican dream alive and well.

A dream can only really mean something to someone who's never had anything.

Jamaica is a country like everywhere else, and people must realize that building there is the answer to most of our problems. Stop pretending, and take the band aid off the wound because the wound really needs stitching.

The PM is a prime example of the jamaican dream coming through.

If people work hard and start supporting their own economy, and if they stop allowing other people to come in and buy us out cheap, and sell back to us at a higher price.

Jamaica must be for Jamaicans. The clammer to the airports and the ship wharves are not necessary because what you run and leave the next man across the water (boot Island) and him boys are scraping away.

Divide and conquer. This strategy creates distraction, and people must realize that to persecute and kill each other will solve nothing.

To live upright is a good thing. To live and let live. To dream and let dream. Give each other a chance and God will take you the rest of the way.

To build Jamaica for the future that is the Jamaican dream.

Selfish behavior will only destroy us, and so we must develop Human Compassion and learn to emphatize with the less fortunate.

Thanks for sharing Sophia I agree and understood it all except what do you mean by Jamaica for Jamaicans, please expand on that. As our economic reality currently will require that we attract local and foreign investors to the country, which alot of people are very uncomfortable with.

I hate to say it, but when I was a kid back in Jamaica, all I ever dreamed of was getting off the island. Looking back now, I am glad I did, not to get away from my upbringing, culture, family, etc., but for the educational and occupational opportunities.

I find it really hard to imagine what life would be like for me now if I had stayed. While I am confident that I would have survived, the struggles to do so would have been overwhelming. Even though life in America can be hard for some, I think my good fortunes have taken away some of my ability and willingness to want to "struggle" to make it like some of my fellow Jamaicans living back home now.

What to do? Like Kingston20 said, we need to find ways to boost the economy, find ways to generate more interest from foreign investors and maybe that will make a small but noticeable dent and make the dream possible for some.
