email away - it is a black country - and that's one of my main reason for my addiction - if africa was closer i would vacation there

i have been on the plane and asked folks if they knew jamaica was like 95% black - most of them never thought about it - one visit i ran into "the ugly american" talking bad to the the jamaicans - like they were slaves -

in one instance - when she was going on and on - i managed to take a nice "pinch" of her arm - and reminded her that she was not home - that the wait staff were not slaves - and she needed to act better - miraculous improvement after that - and the wait staff cheered me for taking up the cause they couldn't

Let me see...

I like:

the creativity necessary for any situation...no matter what...

the ambience...always a good laugh...can always find healing for the soul...

dropping in to friends unannounced ...no formalities...no calling up before...just knock and enter...

community life...knowing everybody in your village...in your neighbourhood...on your street...in your cawnah...

respect (to include good manners)... yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, good morning, good evening...speaking with eyes averted...

when possible, being outside in the evenings...adults labrishing...playing dominoes...children playing games...eating ...

visuals...the country is so beautiful...every place is a joy to behold...generally speaking...

and of course...long walks...or...

hiking...this below used to be a good one for us...past Newcastle in the Blue Mountains...

Baby goats.
Jasmine outside the bedroom window.
Watching the fishing boats come in.
The way people watch out for each other's pickney, even to the point of disciplining and correcting bad behavior.
The way young people hang out with the older crowd. I've never seen a teen sent packing when big men reason.

Poinciana and bougainvilla and hibiscus.
Sea biscuits.

Produce vendors coming to your yard.

Open doors.
