I don't know if it is legal to marry your first cousin here. But me look at all my cousins almost like brothers and sisters. So me couldn't go down that path.

Inbreeding is an issue in all small islands. And when it comes to the blonde, blue eyed immigrants from Germany that settled in St. Bess and Seaford Town to name just a few communities in JA, the desire to maintain those features rather than any love for one's cousin may have been the motivation.
