Lawd...now me a bawl too. What a happy happy story...(((Nuetral))) Thanks for sharing. I can relate to the embassy run arounds...you were lucky to get a compasionate person that second time around. They can be so cold at the US embassy that at times if I wasnt crying I was cussin up a storm...let me tell you...that approach gets you no where! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I was 15 years of age leonie,and even at that age I was very street wise....granny herself probably had never set foot in kingston and would never contemplate it.

Neutral that was truly a beautiful story. I must commend you on your writing skills. Maybe you should publish a novel.

Like so many others I can also relate to the Embassy story. I am an only child and my parents went through quite a bit to send for me too.

Very beautiful and touching story, very well written, appreciate you sharing it with us. Sorry about your best friend. I have two young boys and I can relate to what your mother must of been going through, she Meant she was not leaving with out her son [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] .

thanks everyone,I wanted to share my experiences because I know that most people that left jamaica at that period experienced similar stories.
even now in most cases there are a lot of obstacles in gaining a visa.

the incidence at the embassy where my mother bawled her eyes out is her favourite after dinner story.... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ...only, whenever she tells it she seems to embellish it even more..... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Neutral your mother is a true gem. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] She really jumped through ropes to get her children to join her in the UK.

I had tears welled up in my eyes when I read how your mother cried at the embassy then suddenly dried her tears and staat laff with you....that had me in stiches! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Then that nurse noh easy at all, wanted to strip your mother of her clothes and shoes fi get one likkle test result..bright.
