I am going to dedicate this section on the beautiful work that this wood carver produces. If you aren’t sure where to find him, just ask LeeAnne (her phone number is on the 1st page of this post) and she will get you there. These carvings are all done out of mahogany and the pictures do not do them justice. Please, please, please give this guy some of your business when you are there. I believe he can create anything you wish.













And this piece really showed what kind of talent this guy really has. Mind you, this creation stands about 6 feet tall!!!

Well, it was on our way to the country. Here is a shot of the passing scenery.



But first a stop at a local primary school to visit and drop off some school supplies and toys. Since it was Ash Wednesday holiday, the full school session was out on holiday. It never ceases to amaze me how the schools in Jamaica differ so much from what I had and my children have here in the US.







Here we are with the principal who was gracious enough to show us around the classrooms.



Meanwhile, across from the school, there were a couple of guys burning garbage. The fire got a little out of hand and I snapped a picture of one of them trying to beat the flames back with a shovel.



On the road again, we stopped at a local church that was being worked on. I can honestly say that it doesn’t matter what condition a church is in. When the Spirit is present you know it. Folks, the Spirit is present here.

Alright, here we are at the Creation Liberation Meditation Centre. It is a sprawling piece of land with beautiful shade trees, gardens, fruit trees, kitchen area and glorious scenery. Here are a few pictures of how you can relax while you visit.





Here is Rasta Patrick poking at a Jamaican apple (which I hold in the foreground). This was a delicious fruit.

He was very friendly and liked to be petted.

A view of the mountains beyond the property. It was truly relaxing and a wonderful place to just meditate and take it all in.

I know I look like a total geek but the little kids picked these fresh flowers and gave them to me. The least I could have done was show them that I was grateful. They giggled quite a bit when I put them under my skull cap. It was well worth it.



Rasta Patrick cooked up a wonderful dish of steamed vegetables and rice. The spices he used made the taste magical.



Well, it was back on the road because our trip was coming to an end. I really didn’t want to go.

Before we got to the airport, we decided to wander down to Dead End Beach. This is a beautiful beach that is open to the public. The “Dead End” name comes from the fact that this road used to go all the way to Kingston. It ran right along the back of the airport and the road became in disrepair. They built a wall and so became Dead End Beach.

Well, it was that time I dreaded most. Time to say goodbye. But instead of goodbye we were just going to say so long. We will be back in Jamaica in July to experience some more of paradise. I am planning to visit many more times. I am going to do my best to help in any way I can and to always treasure the wonderful images of this beautiful island. To anyone who is afraid of wandering off of the resorts, let me tell you that there is nothing to be afraid of. Hook up with any number of people on these boards and they will lead you in the right direction. E-mail me if you have any questions or concerns. Once you experience the “real” Jamaica, you will thirst for more each and every visit. One Love. Much Respect.

Your trip report brought tears to my eyes. All the wonderful memories from growing up in Grange Hill Westmoreland. You are truly a wonderful person.
