Marcia, that last phone call you made to me when I needed it will long be cherished. You never let on that your health was not 100%. I am so sorry.

She was so young. This is truly a shock. After one very eloquent post she made in either Westside Wanderings or Discover Jamaica, I had envisioned her as becoming Jamaica's PM one day.

In memory of her spirit, I will renew my commitment to LIVING each day, and as much as possible, to be kind and courteous to others.

We are such a family here it is as if we all lost an older sister. My heart felt instantly heavy when I saw the name of this thread. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Up until this post, i was having a "blue funk" monday. It's unfortunate that she passed away ill. My issues seem very tiny now. May God bless her whole family with comfort right now!

I have exhaled and I know it will be just fine. It is probably what Marcia would say. Her passing was a shock and has saddened me but I know her suffering and quality of life was unbearable. The medicine, the weekly hospital visits/stays and treatments never broke her spirit. I remember calling her on many occasions in the hospital and her first response was is everything okay with the site or it was a new idea/or article. She never grimaced through it all and was always good-humored. She was a strong person to the end.

She loved the Jamaicans.com website and the community here. She joined the website in 1996 as the very first moderator and revolutionized our bulletin board. I still remember the day I asked her to become the site moderator. She was just really happy to help out with the site and was honored. Little did she know involved she would get in this Jamaicans.com vision?

She created many of the standards of the board and encourages our online community. Her ideas grew the board and they many articles she has written for the site provided information to many Jamaicans.com site visitors. She created some of the popular terms we use for the board…DWL (dead wid laff) being one. There were many occasions in the early days of this site I was really down and just frustrated when she encourage me. The board especially has been a point of contention but she encouraged the growth and instilled ideas to ensure that would happen. I can truly say that she was the “heart” of this site. She is a true founder of this site and will live on in spirit here.

She was like a sister who would be honest and tell you like it is. She never forgot any occasion near and dear to my family. The cards and gifts came whether she was in a hospital bed or at home recovering from a procedure.

They say the way some one dies is a true reflection of their spirit. When I spoke to her sister today she told me she died with a big smile on her face. All I could do was smile. Actually I BOAL (Buss Out A Laff) after hanging up. It is just like Marcia.

In death and just as in life you will always be in my heart and the hearts of many of the Jamaicans.com website. She needed a new heart “medically “ but God knew her “heart” was good enough and took her home.

I will miss you for now but I know we meet again in a better place…heaven. As some already mentioned, “Our loss is heaven’s gain”.

The news is so sad. I only know Marcia through the hours I've spent on Ja.com and her many posts that I have read. I can't claim her as a friend, but I can say that our loss has touched me in an honest way, made me sad and brought unexpected tears.

I remember someone asking once why, if we believe in God, do we shed tears when someone we care about dies. We shed those tears because we are hurt by the loss, but at the same time we pray for the happiness that awaits our friend. I'm sad but I'm also happy.

God bless her family, friends and the many people who's lives she has touched and affected. God bless our friend.

Marcia although we neva see eye to eye all the time, your dedication and commitment to Jamaica and to this on line community was undeniable, as were your spirit and the excess hours spent towards furthering the community and helping others. This is a legacy that will live on and on and on…

Condolences to the family, this is a tragic loss of one so young and vibrant. God bless di whole a oonu!!!!

For they have seen the arrival of another voice!

A special mother called "Marcia" has joined them there,

To touch the face of God and his love to share.

God in his great love had loaned her here,

And for what seemed a fleeting moment we held her near.

Time always seems much too short with the ones we love,

Until we are called to return to God above.

Her time here on earth was not wasted you see,

For she lived it to the fullest while waiting for what was to be.

All of her years were spent teaching great love,

To a daughter she had born...her gift from above!

She knew she had done well and with no regret,

When he sent a very special woman, "Marcia" to share.

It's truly a sad thing and a loss for us all but she's now in a better place, no more suffering. Prayers going out to her family in this time of loss.
