You guys must be joking. If this is a joke, it's a sick one. Marcia could never die, she was never sick! She was always on the boards, always chatting with us. How can she die? I hope this is a joke. It's not right. Not my ackeegirl.

I am still in shock. I don't come around as often but one of of my recent jaunts over here, I recall seeing a very lively post from Marcia doing her annual jeering of the June born members and smiling at the goings on especially with Lady Z. It just really makes me feel sick inside to know while she was still kidding around, life's breath was slipping out of her and just one week after her birthday.

How do you say goodbye when it's already too late?

Due to added responsibilities and the pressure of work, for a few months I haven't even been able to lurk around the boards, but somehow today I felt compelled to log on and have just managed to snatch a few minutes' in my lunch break. Only to see the headline screaming back at me.

When I first joined Jamaicans.com Marcia was the first to welcome me, and she was still moderating back then. My favourite memory of her on line was all the posts she would get headlined "MAAAAAWWWWWWCIAAAAAA!!!!!": they would invariably make me grin and open them immediately to see how she would respond to a petty tantrum. As an administrator of this board, she was my role model, and in my capacity as a real-life administrator, I took note of her fairness but firmness when dealing with boardites. Of all the people in the Jamaicans.com family, she was the one I wanted to meet the most, and to tell her how much she has influenced my professional life.

I never got that opportunity to do so, but somehow, I think she knows.

My heart goes out to her family and to all the other boardites as I join you in missing her so much. Xavier, don't let her memory be forgotten - she meant so much to us, much more than she would ever know.

The following message was sent to all staff of the Ministry of Citizenship throughout Ontario yesterday by the Deputy Minister's Office. OPS refers to the Ontario Public Service.

I am sad to inform you that Marcia Davidson, who was the User Centre Co-ordinator in the Technology and Business Solutions Branch at 400 University, passed away today. Marcia worked in the OPS for more than 15 years.

Marcia was a cherished colleague and will be missed.

My condolences to Marcia’s family & friends. I am shocked to learn of her passing, it’s hard to believe she is gone. I need to gather myself and my thoughts, this hard to do right now.
