School would soon be out. Michelle was excited about the summer – as excited as her present state would allow her to be. She wanted desperately to be away from those annoying disinterested teachers, the aloof snobby principal and his staff, her silly mindless friends. But more than all else, she wanted to be away from Mr. Simmons, from Earl.
The bus lurched to a stop and she hastily bid farewell to her friends, who screamed out affectionate obscenities without regard to the flinching seniors who occupied the seats about them. She waved back, all the time her mind echoing “9 days. Only 9 days to go.”
She turned into her driveway and sighed. God she hoped her mother was in a good mood today. Her stomach was already upset. The last thing she needed was to deal with her mother’s *****ing.
