Jesus is coming back for a glorious Church without spot, wrinkle, or blemish. (Ephesians 5:27 KJV.) One of the best ways to become glorious quickly is through prompt and extreme obedience.

Obedience and selfishness are opposing forces. If we are to be glorious, we must be obedient. In order to be obedient, we must be willing to say no to self daily. We must learn to say, "Yes, Lord, yes," and to say it quickly!

We need to learn to follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit. He lives in us and is constantly attempting to lead and guide us. He gently lets us know when we are going in the right direction or the wrong direction.

Obedience to the Lord requires developing sensitivity to His ways, which comes through His Word. We are not just to read the Word, but to do the Word. (James 1:22.)

Make a decision today that you are going to come up higher into a new level of obedience. The rewards of an obedient lifestyle are well worth the price.

Choose you this day whom you will serve—the flesh or the Spirit.
Pray This:
"Father, I choose to be obedient in every area of my life. I will follow Your plan and not my own. In Jesus' name, amen.".

Bob and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord's team was playing Satan's team. The Lord's team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs.

They continued to watch as a batter stepped up to the plate whose name was Love. Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single, because Love never fails.

The next batter was named Faith, who also got a single because Faith works with Love.

The next batter up was named Godly Wisdom. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch. Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it pass: Ball one. Three more pitches and Godly Wisdom walked, because Godly Wisdom never swings at what Satan throws.

The bases were now loaded. The Lord then turned to Bob and told him He was now going to bring in His star player. Up to the plate stepped Grace. Bob said, "He sure doesn't look like much!"

Satan's whole team relaxed when they saw Grace. Thinking he had won the game, Satan wound up and fired his first pitch. To the shock of everyone, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen. But Satan was not worried; his center fielder let very few get by. He went up for the ball, but it went right through his glove, hit him on the head and sent him crashing on the ground; then it continued over the fence for a home run!

The Lord's team won! The Lord then asked Bob if he knew why Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom could get on base but could not win the game. Bob answered that he did not know why.

The Lord explained, "If your love, faith, and wisdom had won the game you would think you had done it by yourself. Love, Faith and Wisdom will get you on base but only My Grace can get you Home Psalm 84:11, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."

Changes come

You cannot know precisely what tomorrow will bring. Yet there is one thing about tomorrow of which you can be certain. You can be sure that tomorrow will be, in many ways, different than today. Things will continue to change, as they always do.

Life itself is a process of change. Night follows day, spring follows winter. Some things grow, while others fade. Styles change, markets change, opinions change, and through it all, life moves forward, changing from day to day.

When the changes don't go your way, take heart. For even the changes are subject to change, and if you're down, the next change can bring you back up.

Victory in The Battles Of Life...1 Samuel 17 (Early Lights Daily Devotional)

The battles of life often seem overwhelming, leaving you with feelings of hopelessness and despair. It is reassuring at these times to read the account of David’s victory over Goliath to understand that nothing is too big for God.

David was a teenager who already was steeped in the ways of the Lord because of the many nights he invested intimately seeking God while shepherding sheep. David’s willing, obedient servant’s attitude positioned him for the victory that would catapult him into greatness: his father wanted him to run an errand and take supplies to the battlefield, and David obeyed.

But, when David least expected it, God opened a monumental door for him. Notice how David responded in (1 Samuel 17:45-47). He not only felt compelled to fight for what he knew was right but was eager. He made a positive faith confession in the face of daunting odds, and he affirmed the proper motivation.

Finally, David responded as we all should in our Goliath life struggles. He relied on the power of God and not on his own strength. What is the famous line that echoes from this story? The battle is the Lord’s. . . .

Remember how it all started. David had invested countless hours in intimacy with the Lord. His inexhaustible faith and trust in the Lord came because the battle had long previously been fought—on his knees.

An Expanded version...

Have firm reliance and faith in the Lord.

Overwhelming joy

Fighting against despair will usually just serve to deepen and prolong it. Instead of fighting against despair, overwhelm it with joy. The best way to move away from something negative is to move toward something positive. For every ounce of discouragement that comes your way, respond with a pound of positive, joyful living.

Rather than being overly concerned about what you're fighting against, find yourself something to live for. Put your time and energy in a positive, productive, creative, life-affirming direction.

Imagine what would happen if you were disrespectful, rude and insulting to another person, and yet that person offered you nothing but kindness, respect and gratitude in return. How long would you be able to maintain such a negative approach?

Probably not very long, for your negativity would soon be overwhelmed by the sincere kindness being returned to you. In the same way, you can overwhelm the negativity that comes your way.

Respond to life with kindness, with joy, with positive, productive action and enthusiasm. Overwhelm the difficult world with goodness and joy.-- Ralph Marston
