IUD My cousin had one for the past 3 years and she is now 6 months pregnant.

I tried the patch and hated it..it gave me a rash and left marks where the patch was each week.

Tried Depo as well...made my cycle very irregular. was spotting ALL the time time, just about.

I don't like condoms!

Next thing for me to try is the pill..anyone got any opinions on that?

There are many pills on the market now. When I was younger & took the pill I would always have spotting. Some of the triphasics prevent this. Talk to your OB/ Gyn doc.

withdrawal is not fool proof. A women can still get pregnant. There are always some sperm cells present and there is usually a likkle leakage before the main event.

One of my patients had her tubes tied 20 years ago, and is now the proud mama of a newborn baby boy I don't like IUD personally b/c of religious reasons. The egg is already fertilized by the sperm, but the IUD prevents implantation in the uterus. I believe that life starts at conception, so this is not a birth control method I would choose.

The patch is a good alternative esp. if you have a hard time remembering to take the pill. I would not recommend depo provera to anyone as this shot puts your body in virtual menopause. Weight gain is also associated w/ Depo.

There are several good pills on the market now. Ortho tricyclin also helps decrease acne breakouts, and Yasmin helps prevent bloating and is associated w/ mild weight loss.

Always use condoms along w/ another form of birth control unless you and your partner have both been tested, and you are both strictly monogomous. Using both can decrease the chances of unplanned pregnancy as condoms can break. The only %100 effective birth control is abstinence (and that's no fun [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ). Check w/ your ob/gyn for more info, do some research, and make an informed decision that is best for you.

Dr. Bones - You are so right about the Depro shot - I went from a clothes size 5 to a size 10 in 9 months. I had such a hard time with my weight ever since. I have since lost some weight but still struggle.

I would never use that injection again.
