In memoriam...(Marcia "Ackeegirl" Davidson

Seems like yesterday, doesn't? Well Wednesday of this week marks one year since we logged on to Jamaicans.com to the sad news that we had lost one of our own. The inimtable Marcia "Ackeegirl" Davidson went home to be with her Maker. As we all remember the outpouring of grief was indeed profound.

For the rest of this month we will commemorate Marcia's memory right here on GD. Please share with us your fond memories about Ackeegirl.

A gentle woman, with an iron hand, full of love; love of everything Jamaican and every supporter of Jamaica.
She demanded, commanded and got NUFF Respect in every aspect.

My fondest memory was meeting Marcia at G2's house in Sept. 2002. (Yuh did knoh she was a shawt likkle ting??)
Sha said she came all the way out to Brampton from Missasauga (sp) to hear me chat in patwa!
I busted out laughing because I can't speak a word!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

Anyway, she stayed after the other guests were long gone and we had a nice visit. Little did I know I'd never see her again. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

My fondest memory of Mawwwwcia was when she made me smile after I "ruffled her feathers" and then threatened to "quit the board".

She sent me a PM that basically said (paraphrase) hey, life is too short and important for us to focus on the insignificant things...let's just focus on having fun. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

hoppin round boardlane, I had NO clue that the very strict and uptight Mawcia had an alter-ego for a lang time - when I finally figured it out (doh), I could finally read humor even in Mawcia's poasts - what a lovely person and heroine ((((Mawcia)))))

what a WOMAN...I loved her immensely and respected her even more....I miss her so much, (I have loads of wonderful memories of her...I still have all her PM's and emails) she had a tough job to do to maintain and soothe the many personalities on the board, and I respect her highly for that, AND for the fact that she never moaned and groaned about her illness...she will be missed by many as she was loved by many...but God loved and wanted her more!!!
