Hallelujah(?)!!! Just heard from my son in NYC who talked to his friend in Black River that everything is good. Not much damage - just power and phones are out. Prayers answered!!!!! I'll post more if I hear more.Comment

More from St. Eliz - Belmont - friends fish house business looted = all the liquor, pots, pans, etc gone!!!(SOB'S!! Huge boulders on the road - road split at each end and no entry - trees down, roofs off. I resident died of heart attack. Will post more as I hear it. Called Jamaican Embassy in Wash. DC for info. THEY HAD NONE???????? Keep praying.Comment

We are strarting to get first and second hadn reports about Treasure Beach and St. Elizabeth in general at www.treasurebeach.net
Overall, there has thankfully been very little loss of life but a tremendous amount of damage. Houses without roofs, electricity polls down, massive flooding, etc.

Hi, I've been gone all day to a funeral. Still have no news on Black River, Waterloo Guest House, the Allens, Bells, Stewarts and Gloria Smith - the pharmacist. What about damage on High St. along the coast. Anyone heard anything??? I keep praying for one and all but I fear for my friends and family.Comment

News has been hard to come by from this area of Jamaica. My guess is it is cut off by flooding and downed lines. Should start to hear news soon I;m sure.

I must tell you how thankful I am and I know everyone else using your site.
You are a "good samaritan" and will be blessed for providing this service
unselfishly.
I heard from my sister again just within the hour and was about to put
together an email for you.
She says that St. Elizabeth as a whole was severely damaged. The extent of
the damage is not known but she says because the Eye of the storm passed
just south of them they really got pounded. They began getting the wind
since 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon and the rain only stopped at 4:00 p.m.
this afternoon.
She hasn't heard of flooding in Santa Cruz.The town doesn't usually get the
floods however in the Southfield and Treasure Beach they are bad and were
just affected by Charley as well.
Black River 40% of homes damaged. The sea came up to street level and into
businesses. For those who know Black River they can picture the areas that
would have been included in this description. Very sad.
Many homes and buildings without entire roofs including her very close
friend (Binns) in Goshen area. There is ankle deep water in her house.
My sister says that she cannot get through on her cell phone to anyone so
it's difficult to hear about other areas.
STETHS (high school in Santa) lost some of its roof.
Burnt Ground and areas next to it very bad as well.
She says she doesn't know how they are going to clear all the trees as it
seems every one was fallen. Every leave ripped from those still standing.
Devastation indeed.
Will keep you posted on news I hear.

TreasureBeach.Net just got our first report from someone in Treasure
Beach, St Elizabeth.
Overall, everyone is OK, but there is a report of a death. There is
massive damage, but the residents are in good spirits and helping each
other.
