You mean that you do not know that the vast majority of high school places in Jamaica were for female?
yes they had more girks high schools than boys and in the common entrance more girls are successful than boys.
If more boys were successful,there would mot be the place in high school to put them.
There is also more places in teacher's colleges for women than men.
It has always been so,nothing is new there. It is actually by design.

If more men took and passed the admissions exams, I would think that room would be found for them in any coeducational institution. This would be especially the case if the institution is private and depends on tuition money for funding.

Are you suggesting or asking??

First is that the exams are first done at age 9 to 11 years. So no men are involed at that stage.

Next there was a quota that allowed an number of places for girls and a number for boys. They just cut off passing mark at the number of places they have gor boys.Thjis is ofcourse carried over to univsesity,because if they don't attend high school,they are not likely to annetd university.

Next by law black men could not ne employed in the government offices until 1969,nor work in manahement jobs in any large industries. So there was no need to educate them
Women could only work as secretaries,so they had to be educated.
You are assuming that there was no rules and laws in the country that cause this educational anamoly. Well I han tell you that is not true.
I went to a boy's school and we were a mixed bunch colours race,rich poor ect,and in our classes. The boys were sharp and we could compete with girls grom any school.
We usually beat the girls in maths,chemistry,econ,statistics,Bio etc but they beat us in E lit,geograpgy and kanguage etc,but the make students were as sharp as the female.
It is not about anillity why the boys are noot in ythese instituitions. It is all planned.
This came up at a confrence not to long ago and not one of the participants that suggested that the boys wer at fault could support it with any evidence. As a result there is a movement to increase the places in schools for all studentsand of course they arein tyhe process of removing the entrance exaems to high schools.
