I can only speak for the GTA, and still my experience is limited, but, Yeah the subways in are relatively clean...
The train (GO) is very clean, but filled with executive looking people jabbing away at their laptops.
Taxes high, Insurance high, Interest rates low.
Racism is here,but subtly effective for the most part.
The weather is worst than say Atlanta, but better than NY and most other Northern states.
G2 cooks the best Jerk Chicken. R+ eats the most.. No wait, Ja-Kid eats the most...........

It's good! Houses are affordable! Average price for a single family home in Toronto is around $300,000 and interest rates are low!

I know people with their MBAs and had high profile jobs back home, that do the Ontario real estate brooker courses and launch out on thier own. The feedback is generally, the love it and would never go back to a 9-5.
Sales.. Inside the GTA is crazy.. a little 500sq condo can sell for as much as $250K, but as you go further out, you can get a 1800sq detach house in a decent neighbourhood for the same. A townhouse for say $200K and a condo for say $150K.
Thing is the value on the Town and Detach appreciates much faster than the Condos. Plus when time for resale, too much opposing factors (Management quality, Reserve fund, Maintenance fee, etc) all stuff you the owner usually have NO control over.

Sell mi house fi $200,000 "as is" (or fix it and get $250,000 - $2,75,000 fi'eet).

Move to better weather than the Swamp that is NJ.

Move to a city I KNOW to be (1) cleaner, (2) nicer, and (3) nearly as much culturally as nearby NYC... and that is populated by nicer people in general (my own experiences in Toronto)...

Wouldn't escapees from the U.S. need proper documents to move to Canada?

Yes, I bought my home outside of Toronto in the Town of Vaughan, it's about a 20 minute drive to Downtown Toronto. It's a four bedroom house with 2 1/2 bathroom...I paid close to $300,000 for it
