I was talking to a young girl today who told me that she gets injected once every three months (by the school nurse) and this form of contraceptive prevents her from getting a period!

I had a friend who did the same thing. It is the depo provera shot.

She had some terrible side effects, including a massive amount of hair on her chin and chest.

Apparentely she wasn't the only one.

Currently there is a birth control pill on the market that allows you to have only 3 periods a year. You take a pill continuously for 3 months, go off for a week, have a period, then go back on the pill for another 3 months...

There are all kinds of options out there.

50lb weight gain
Extreme Excitability, Nervousness
Panic Attacks, Paranoia
Shortness of Breath
Great loss of libido
Painful intercourse
Severe lack of lubrication
Lowered immune system
Loss of hair
unwanted hair on breasts, toes, face ...

But before I go I wanted to note that this young lady seem to be the picture of health. She's been on this thing for a year now she says (she's seventeen).

Does one, at this age, not need parental consent before taking birth control?

She says her mother doesn't know about it... her mother is a nurse...

I wonder who regulates parental conset? Is it a state law? ...

Some people can take depro with no problem. Others can't stand it from the beginning. For some, their body chemistry changes after a few years and they become intolerable to it.

I was on birth control (not depro) for years then one day I couldn't take it anymore.

It took me almost 5 years, surgery, and lots of discomfort, to get my body regular again.
