7777, luv the way yu say it clear and honest...I`m afraid poor J-Can has lots of wool over the eyes and thinks that cosmetics makes an object pretty when deep below the skin, Jamaica has some more than ugly spots and Amanda didn`t come to Jamaica as a spy. She came with an open mind and sought her way around.
What people like J-Can could do is learn from what people who can be objective and understand that to criticize can be a mode of love, why because you know better and you want better and will say so when better nuh deh.

I know that its at this point that we, the foreigners, sometimes long for our island home, and I think its the same scencio with Amanda..
She longed for things that were *familiar* to her, and made her feel at home..

You really thought Amanda a fool like the rest of folks who love visiting Jamaica eeh...yu really think that Amanda came here thinking Jamaica was a proverbial dessert....See your own mind gave you away. It`s you now and perhaps before who is saying Jamaica is not what it is perceived to be, a paradise tropical island full of rum, fun, sea and sun, but a now destitute place continuously pilfered by the leaders who have said they loved us, from Morgan the pirate to Patterson the Prime Minister.

Yes, I wished her good riddance and still stand by those thoughts.We butted heads a number of times over this same topic.If I bad mouthed the U.S. the way she did jamaica
I am sure some one would ask me what I was doing here
(as you may have noticed I never said she was incorrect in her assesment of jamaican life I merely said that is the way it is live with it or move on)

[img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]I am on this board often, and most times as an on looker. When I do make posts, other than inquiries about runnings in Ja. , most times I am ignored ( by both Ja. and Jamaicaholics)....so I've not really kept up on the postings.

There are MANY times where I've had something to say, but doesn't make sence, if no one will listen.

I have been living in Ja. since Aug.with a couple trips back and forth to Fl. to check on my son....I miss Ja. terribly when I'm in the us, but I do understand what Amanda is talking about when she has lost patience with the "soon come " attitude. It has been hard also for me to deal with it, but I'm learning.

This whole project in Ja. has been done with a friend, but I'm the one who is dealing with all the shipping and also Ja. runnings, etc. We are setting up a guest house in a beautiful area of Ja. on the N. coast, that is unspoiled and tranquill. There are no people who hassle you here.

I've spoken to several members thru PM, who have been cordial and informative...but, for the most part, I feel that I'm not really welcome on this board, so have chosen to read & enjoy posts, and many times have a good laugh, but do not really feel welcome.

I'm living amonst Jamaicans where I am, & have NO problem living life there....but, when I go on this board it seems as though the people on here want to have nothing to do with me.....can't quite understand the vibe.

When I hear peeps chat bout so many views & no response, I can relate, because many times I have something to say, but do not feel as though my response is wanted.

It has always been my dream of dreams to have a little piece of Ja., if I could ever afford to do it, and somehow, things have worked out so that I could do that...this doesn't mean that I'm not on a strict budget....I could never have afforded to do this without a partner, or without making it a potential business, so I'm not a big $ person, just someone who is trying to make their dreams work.

That's pretty much it, in a nutshell....peace & love to all and life goes on.................
