I've spoken to several members thru PM, who have been cordial and informative...but, for the most part, I feel that I'm not really welcome on this board, so have chosen to read & enjoy posts, and many times have a good laugh, but do not really feel welcome.

I'm living amonst Jamaicans where I am, & have NO problem living life there....but, when I go on this board it seems as though the people on here want to have nothing to do with me.....can't quite understand the vibe.

When I hear peeps chat bout so many views & no response, I can relate, because many times I have something to say, but do not feel as though my response is wanted.

It has always been my dream of dreams to have a little piece of Ja., if I could ever afford to do it, and somehow, things have worked out so that I could do that...this doesn't mean that I'm not on a strict budget....I could never have afforded to do this without a partner, or without making it a potential business, so I'm not a big $ person, just someone who is trying to make their dreams work.

That's pretty much it, in a nutshell....peace & love to all and life goes on.................

anyway i am considering moving to Ja for several reason 1 is starting a business, 2 is family, 3 i love the mountains 4 JA is callin me and has been for years. teh sister Amanda I feel her and give her alot of credit for making the move. I will be met with opposition for my wanting to move there from family but the bigger picture is whats makes me happy and it dont take much for me to be happy....

if you can offer in suggestions or advice about business and how to prepare to move id appreciate it

(((Ja. Jewel)). I would love to hear about your living experiences in Jamaica. While doing your business in Ja do you feel that it runs smoother if you have a Jamaican helping you along the way? I don't live there but just the small dealings I've had it seems like they know the "lick" better and can get things done faster. i can only speak for myself...but i'm sure there are MANY others who would agree with me (((JaJewel))...Your response is very much wanted ...and if you don't feel welcome here...please tell me what I can do to make you feel more a member of this community.

I've seen you post here and there...and have never consciously ignored what you have said...sometimes...readers peep in, read a post and move on, and don't take the time to be cordial...please don't take that as anything personal.

If there's one thing this board needs it's fresh faces and new perspectives...you represent both, and i for one would love it if you felt comfy enough to say more and say it often. For me, it took quite a while for me to break out of the travel forums...so i understand. I promise you, that once you do, and start posting around, people get a feel for you, recognize you, and become more comfy in interacting with you...just like real life...you rarely walk into a room of complete strangers and feel totally comfortable.

This board is held tight in the grips of others who do not want to include anyone who in new. I like reading so I sometimes lurk and don't even log in much anymore.

It is so funny how they noticed how many views they get but no responses. It is because newbies are chased off. Look at how the newbie attempting to post a trip report was chased off. I have seen this happen time and time again. I think this is a valuable board and I have gotten wonderful information here and some of the memebers are welcoming, but overall the MAJORITY are NOT.

I would like to see you post your story..........I would be interested and I think that more lurkers would love to come out and participate in a thread in which they feel welcome.

This board has great potential for welcome like wonderful Jamaica...........I hope it is realized someday.

no, you are missing the point……. Relating one’s thoughts & opinions, sharing stories and reasons, is not COMPLAINING . It is just relating her experience.

There is nothin wrong with sharing her experiences and thoughts on why she is doing what she is doing… maybe it can provide some insight to someon else, maybe somebody is interested in hearing her point of view.

That does not mean she does not still have love for JA, or that she is complaining about it. She is just sayin what is so for her.

I tell it like it is about the US too, i know full well there stuff about my country that sucks and i am not afraid to say the truth. It doesnt' mean I no love my country, it just means i can see it for what it is. I certainly don't get all bent outta shape if smaddy come to live here and can't manage it and leaves it, for those very same reasons. I no scorn or belittle them, nor pass judgement pon dem or 'good riddance' dem - that is mean and rude. i big them up for tryin at all, whether they like or or hate it in the end - cause i know it can be a bad way sometimes and that is just the truth of the matter.

Whether is nice or not, the truth is the truth. i don't scorn someone who speaks it, even if it's about my own country or even myself. It is what it is -

Wow, I'm touched...thanks shultz,loops and wedinjamaica for being so encouraging...I needed that!! I had to get quite drunk to make that post.

Part of the reason that I didn't do an indepth post about my whole move, like Jamaica miss, is the time factor, plus many internet connection problems both in Fl. and Ja.

Also I have a "wash-belly"son, 19, who I have had to help get set up in Fl., after our move from Vt. so that has taken alot of time, energy and $. This is his first experience living on his own and he is rather immature for his age, spoiled (my fault), and not all that cooperative....so my stress level from just dealing with him alone has been high.

Since I'm here in Fl. till Jan. 11th, I'll try to post what I can about the "big move", in segments. I will start a new post soon in this catagory....maybe even tonite!

Wow, all this happened in just the past few days since I last looked in here!

Jewel and others, don't feel no way about the response thing, it is not personal, just keep posting like 7's said.

I just wish Amanda would come back and tell us how her return to the states went!

All I know is everyones personal experiences are there's alone, nobody can take them away or alter them after the fact. I don;' understand the dissecting.

I was living in Jamaica until End of June 2005 and have been living there since 2001. I can't say I ever regret it, it's a once in a lifetime experience...
My husband and I took the decision to return to my homecountry because I was pregant of our 2nd child and we have better options out here, but still... Out here you're in the "rich" (read material) world again but lots of times I think back about the times we don't have to worry so much and are happier with less same way. Out here I feel locked up sometimes and miss walking in our yard and pick any fruit you can think of. I don't know what the future will bring but I try to say everything have its + and - .
I have a feeling I can't really get used to Belgium again, but I am grateful that our family is together here, pickney them healthy and our love remains. People did tell me me must be carzy when I left to Jamaica, sometimes I feel more crazy I did come back here. Life ain't always easy esp. the decisions you have to make - I'm not sure about mine but I hope You make the right decision for yourself and member your family need you too. If I see how my parents love our children and enjoy them, it would be hard to take that from them again . Nuff love and strenght to you, one love ...

I post so infrequently that noone knows me. I am however aregular at viewing the posts. It is strange thaat the last time I weighed in to apost it was by Amanda who was complaining yet again about Jamaica.That time it was about having to debone chicken and use cold water if my memory serves me correctly. While I do expect her to own her truth it is hard for me and others jcan in this case to understand why someone would stay in such unpleasant surroundings for so long. In my line of work I would ask about secondary gain. It seems to me that some of the same problems people face in JA are endemicin the US as well or do you all live in the rural midwest? Have you dealt with rudeness, long lines or road hogs in NYC. Realistic Expectations are always important when planning life changing moves. It is unfair to blame the country and its people for a decision Amanda and others made when they were ill prepared to do so.
I am definitely NOT negating the hazards of a life in Jamaica Crime for one but I have never found people as boorish or uncultured as Q intimates in his post.

Just my tuppence.
