You mean there are boardies out there that haven't read the interview, tsk, tsk, how dare they.

Well we started AFIMI in January '04. It's run by three long time friends, Janece, Jen and Kevin. We currently have our clothing in 12 stores across Canada and are planning on expanding into the American market over the next few months. ****If you have any links to stores, or urban clothing store in your area, link us at sales@afimi or [email protected].

We will be involved in a fashion show this Friday in Ottawa.

Also we will be featured at a dance in Brooklyn on June 18

In another dance in Queens, NY on July 10

Well the names stems from a play on words, often in a dance (dancehall) you will hear the selecta say something to the effect of "if yuh know say a your clothes walk up" or "put yuh hand up in the air if you nah borrow clothes" many times women will reply by saying "AFIMI"

So this is how the name and the idea came about. It's a women's line of clothing and we love to hear feedback and suggestions from our supporters.

None of us had a clue, just an idea, strong motivation and a few pennies saved. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

When we started this, the idea and the concept seem to take over us, we would continually feed off of each others energy and ideas and it would build.

Kevin has a strong promotion, web development and graphic background.

Jen's background is in marketing and promotion

Janice's background is in broadcasting and marketing.

Great question. We opted to start off with tops because they are easier compared to bottoms and dresses. With tops you generally only have Small, Medium and Large but Bottoms and Dresses you have to supply everything from 1 - 18, ok we're exaggerating, but in comparision you have to have more options.

For the moment we are going to be sticking to tops, but as time goes on and AFIMI expands we will definately offer a more diversed line.

As far as accessories, and men....

we are in pre-production line of hats. To give you an idea it will be trucker/baseball hats (think Von Dutch style) but rather than an oval with Von Dutch embrodered inside, the oval will take the place of the outline of Jamaica and inside of it will be embrodered AFIMI.
