I have been buying shares for a decade or more..... I do Ok at it... I have some siple rules...

1) Only buy shares with money you can afford to lose.... If it is pensions, food money dont...
2) Until you realise it the money is just numbers,,,,
3) I stick to a sector I know and understand..... 8 about 6 years ago I was in the internet bubble... I made alot of money and lost it...
4) Currently I am into high risk energy stocks.... My portfolio is in the 10's of thousnds of US....
5) My stretegy is simple... I buy when the stock doubles I sell 1/2..... I can tell nightmare tales of greed where hundreds of thousands were lost....
6) You want a good tip... I have one.. A sure thing that I am watching fall but will pick up in the next few months... Depending on events( I wont buy until one of my shares double and I sell...)
7) My stretegt is 100 % increase then sell 50 %...Should you chose to a % increase stick to it... BE it 25 %....
8) I have been on the Biotech bubble, internet bubble... So losing is part of the game... I have been at it since 1990... I wont retire on it... But I get great satisfaction... depending on the sector... I read alot on hte subject...
9) I dont buy on margins.. I settle full amount after 3 dAYS... I dont do bonds, or future... ( 10)I predicted the enegy price spike in 2000... When the dollar was high and oil was low.... But I dont reject this.... I bought gold in 2000 on a black market deil. She who must be obeyed never listened to me and when I expalined why she should have bought the gold she tells me it is my fault,,,,,,
11) Oil stocks are over valued... buy and take profit and buy into blue chip///
12) Next bubble are K%%%% and the F********... I am watching both like a hawk... I have about $5000 in the latter... Invested about $1000... (I got my profit) am watching the former,.... Will invest in the next few weeks when I take profit from the latter... or the market bottoms out on the former... I may have to introduce new capital....
13) Patience is a virtue,,, And knowdege is power... I get information from desolate places.... From hewers of wood and haulers of waters... From things that seem insignificant..... I bought into a company 6 years ago... they had a solid R&D base... Had a good clinet base.... I knew this was a good stock... It fell it rose... Then two weeks ago it paid off it when balistic... I 50 % at the top... The share fell back to 80 %,,,(I took the profit and placed into a energy stock.. which then fell 20%.... ) I will stick with this... As a African governent made a promise to the company for preferential treatment on all future projects for paying for a 12 % part od a drilling project..... Now all of this is speculative.. on an election or coup I could lose everything......
14) Buy when everyone is selling and sell when everyone is buying... That comes from Dickens.... but is the truth on the stock market.... This is the fundamental.... The companies profitability is is irelevant... It is the market sentiment...(And this may be totally illogical...)
