I just can't fathom being the only blacks in a whole school of whites.

Trust me Boopie...it ain't fun. I don't remember the hair thing from high school. But when I was at university, there were some at church who would delight in touching my hair and say "Oh your hair is so soft I always thought that Black hair was hard". It was one of the older Jamaican women I knew who gave me a comeback for it and one day I used it This chick touched my hair and started with her foolishness....I touched her hair RIGHT back and said "Oh, your hair is so hard, I always thought White people's hair was soft". She was SO angry but she never did that again and nobody else did either.

Lord that use to get on my last nerve when I wore braids, they would some how or another end up being amazed and touching my braids. I've never run up on anybody I don't know and start touching their hair.

Yes one female who use fe live roun de corner. She now lives in Oshawa wid har husband an tree yutes. We harldy ever talk but we still friends.

My sister lives in the US. She is a doctor. She is not married and, as far as I know, she has never had a serious relationship. I remember we used to talk about all this stuff and then one day, when she was around 21 she came home and said, men aren't all their cracked up to be and put dating and marriage on the back burner. At medical school she said it was tough because the women would do ANYTHING to get a doctor and she wasn't about to play that game. She felt there was WAY too much game playing (like one guy made a date, didn't show up and later that evening when she went to a party with a friend and the guy was there with another woman). She leads a busy active life, travels, and runs marathons. When people ask her what she is looking for in a man she says "I am not looking". You can tell she is related to our Cousin Compry. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] As for me, people find it hard to believe that Cousin Compry and I are related.

Well mi neva ha no date all through high school... A wanda if ah did mi colour ???????

Ah well.... Well mi seacan formal jab mi neva ha no one fi mentor mi.... So oppertunities did not happen.... Then mi lef dat answaring ah jab ad...

My line managa was an egyptian... But he was ah knaiving, backstabber so was no help.... There was one outand out rascist... Well he hated every body....... There was a Ghanian guy in the same company... The country manager mistook me for him and made a crack about giving up my commision and I made a cutting remark in reply... The man apologised for mistaking me... And ever ince every time he sees me uys me a drink...

But early on I got my turning break at a time my skills was littke needed by a ex Selous Scout... For those who dont know ex Rhodesian special forces killa... He took a risk on me an placed me and requested my services after one meeting.. a few months later anoter contractor and I clashed head on... I basically told the guy this was the way we would go... He changed the plan while I slept...

When I woke, everything was normal...as I left it... Lunch time we were in the mess... The contractor came over.... And started to swear...

"That f,,,,ing niàààà bastard..." My tray drapped we were going rumble blood was going to flow either he or I was going to die.... Time stood still hormones flowed, had the adrenaline tremble under control....I discretely pulled my dagger out of the small of my back holster.... as I asked

" What the fààà are you talking about ? shifting stance getting on the balls of my feet... I was going for the solar plexus upward stab...Get under the rib cadge and mix it up cut the heart.... Both his hands were emptu... I had weight and suprise on my side.....

"that f@@@@@ing Rhodesian Black Bas@@@@d..." Now ten years before this Rhodesian was killing Africans... Now being described by the same terms he used in the past... Irony....

Oh yeah I was on another contract a year later.... They were going to do a random **** test... The camp boss who was admistering the test came over and asked me if I wanted to be excused as he understood that the use of various haluciogens was part of my culture. And he had been asked by the contract holder to ask me....

Never could figure if that was a insult or a compliment.....

Once in Italy my she who must be obeyed was accosted by an two amerous Italian... They basically boxed her in and started trying to negoiate a fee.... A passing waiter r*from the hotel baically pulled her out of a nasty situation.... Seh never told me till a day later.... Now that night I told a Serbian colleague... And over a few glasses of wine we discussed this situation with .... Now the Greek guy said she should have made a few shekels.. The Albanian asked me if she wanted a job.... The croatian had an argument with the serb over Sebernitza...

The Italain guys apologised and rationalised it on the lines that the only women with high melanine content in the town was a number of highly priced ladies of the night.... Any way , She whom all men feared was reaally liked by tthe guys I was doing buisness with...... It turn out the amorous guys in question got a rather unpleasant vist... Never found out if it was teh Croatians, the Greeks, the Italaians or the Albanians who made the vist...

I know that there are some terrific people out there who are white and who dont side on the side of racism against blacks.....
Its hard sometimes for those of us of African heritage, cuz we too didnt have a choice with the color of our skins..
this is our heritage and so we wouldnt be defending it so much , if we were treated equally and fairly...*sigh* and judged for who were are and not judged for our skin tones..

Must Jesus bear the Cross alone and all the world go free?

There is a Cross for everyone, and sure there is one for me and you, and you too.

Life's lessons are for a reason. We muss remember sey anno wi wan a guh chroo or have been chroo tings. We must learn from these experiences and use them to help others. If we see them as negative, we miss the point completely.

I believe that the faddah naah gi wi nuh more dan wi can hangle, suh tekk up unnoo cross and march on soldiers. Be Strong and remember nobady is exempt from life's lessons.

Telling your story is a good thing, but we must remember not to dwell on the negative things or let it consumes and direct our paths. Learn from your experiences, tell your story and march on...

((777)) I will never know what it's like for those of you to be judged by the color of your skin... and the frustration.. anger.. hurt..

As much as i can try.. I am still white.. I am still given preferential treatment.. not judged in the same light... and that is regrettable because I no more want that allowance.. than i would want to be judged for the black color of my skin.

I am grateful that I am able to glimpse into your psyches so that i can understand more fully... and that you too allow me to share some of my experiences from the other side.

I can't rewrite history...nor can i change the world perspective of small minded folks...but I can speak up whenever given the chance... and try to educate those i come into contact with.. or atleast push them mentally so they have to stop and think.... and/or feel some shame in their own thinking...

One thing i have come to realize is that i am no longer comfortable in an all white world/environment....or ethnically monogomous environment.... I feel more alive..and more enhanced.. when in a diverse community...with varied perspectives and experiences.....

I suppose that's why I like to travel so much.... people tend to live in a microcosm... and soon judge things based on that one small perspective. ....
