also because they may kill him - is it our duty to protect him by not supporting and voting for him?

You're funny - no candidate will ever be able to lay out step by step their plans for each and every issue every time u hear them speak publicly - you really have to choose the one that most closely resembles what you would like to see...

but have u ever taken the time to go to his website and see what his stand on the issues are? becuase they are all plainly laid out there.

LONDON -- In the European primaries this weekend, 400 million people headed to the polls and selected Barack Obama as their candidate for the next president of the United States.

Or so it would appear if you crossed Europe looking at the front pages and TV screens of the major capitals. Mr. Obama's face was everywhere, blanking out Nicolas Sarkozy's love affair, the Pope's proclamations, even Britain's soccer scandals. Across the continent, there was a collective sense of astonishment and novelty from audiences accustomed to viewing the United States through a monochromatic and often very angry lens.

"Race reshaped by the son of Kenyan goatherd," said the Times, which, along with fellow London newspapers the Telegraph, The Independent and The Guardian, featured large photos of Mr. Obama on the top of the front page and ran multipage spreads on him inside.

In Paris, Mr. Obama scored the rare hat trick of filling the front pages of the right-wing Le Figaro, the centrist Le Monde and the left-wing Libération on the same day.

The French media gave his victory a messianic tone: "The Greater America opts for the New Man," proclaimed Le Monde. Editors and reporters in France explained that the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary - obscure events that normally elicit barely any European notice - are getting blanket coverage in all the European media this year because there is a sense that replacing George W. Bush is a task for the whole world.

"The 2008 presidential election is really crucial for America and the world, something the Americans seem to understand as much as we do," said Philippe Boulet-Gercourt, a writer with the French newsweekly Le Nouvel Observateur. "They can influence the world in a thousand ways ... even if they elect a teddy bear, it is better than those eight years of Bush."

"After eight years of depressing developments, finally some good news from the United States," wrote the editors of Libération. "Barack Obama is an exemplar of the American tradition of pluralism ... Obama embodies the transformation, and it goes beyond his colour ... This is the man who could reconcile America with itself and with the rest of the world."

Much of the attention focused on Mr. Obama's skin colour and on his father's immigrant experience.

"Iowa is a U.S. state where people have surnames such as Kastner, Best or Danielson. They are white, raise pigs or cultivate corn, and in the history of their state have never elected an African-American to any office," wrote the Berlin daily Die Tageszeitung, which devoted its front page to a huge photo of Mr. Obama beneath the headline "Whites select black."

This sort of breathless amazement filled papers from Portugal to Estonia this weekend - in part, editorial writers acknowledged, because the Americans had done something that would be unimaginable in much of Europe.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Secret Service presence has increased for Sen. Barack Obama since his dramatic win in Iowa, amid fears over the safety of the man seeking to become America's first black president.

The Illinois senator's security now rivals that of President Bush, with a dozen Secret Service agents wearing dark suits and earpieces leading bomb-sniffing dogs through event venues, sweeping all equipment brought by journalists and flanking the candidate as he plunges into crowds of supporters.

"For many black supporters, there is a lot of anxiety that he will be killed, and it is on people's minds," said Melissa Harris-Lacewell, a Princeton University professor of political science and contemporary black culture.

This says volumes about the great USofA
US leadership talk about terrorist al-queda, bin laden, axis of evil... Now a man, like most other men, is running for president, but his life is further in danger simply because of the color of his skin.
Personally i feel for the family of Obama, his wife, his kids. This man is going on a lonely sacrificial trek. one which he will quicly realize that even the man next to him, he may not be able to trust.

But on the flip side, is the USA at least flirting with a new path no other of these "developed nations" dare even consider.
Where/who is England's , Canada's, France's Italy's Obama???
Does a black man even dream to lead these countries?
On the optimistic side, u gotta think "this IS the great USofA" and this is how is MAY stand the chance to remain great.. well atleast for our lifetime.
