and who is suffering now and which part of the scenario u painted is not happening right now...

profound statement that last part...."ultimately poverty breeds crime " and after years of bumper tourist seasons we have the worst crime ever in the history of the island.....and each year as the crime statistics climb, so do the number of arrivals....wonder wat that says about the impact of one on the other and vice versa.... some deep underlying issues as to priority of the government etal re the island on a whole.....deeeeeeeppppppp underlying issues

I understand what you guys mean.

Vannie, the poverty breeds crime still holds because the average Jamaican does not get an equal share of the benefits from tourism, yet if tourism dropped off considerably the average Jamaican would experience a disproportionate amount of loss.

(Hope I'm clear. It is like in the US where the wealthy benefit from most everything, yet a recession hurts the average American and those in poverty the hardest.)

If 1400 Jamaicans a year keep getting murdered it not going to matter one way or the other.

a hoooooo...cause hotels will become like zoos wid the people on the outside looking in on to an unattainable life....secured gates, protection, imported beef, chicken, potatoes, pipe water, electricity, air conditioning etc
