I was in Jamaica last December. I stayed with my cousin who would never leave Jamaica. He hanged his pants near the window with burglar bars. And during the night some one pushed a wire in the window and fished out his pants got his wallet and cleaned him out of several thousand dollars. I had to laugh this was so funny. You know what amazes me... I have been on this board for about 3 years now... In the early days until the last few months when it was pointed out that there was something wrong in Jamaica you would be shouted down with cliches like... "It a happen every where.... " Yu ah nuh Jamaican" " yu too negative"....

Things were fine when it was two a day being shot now seven and it has left the ghetto....

As I said as long as it is the poor who gets killed it did not seem to matter... As long as it is the black man killing the black man it was fine... Now as I feared no one is beyond reach... every one now are at the draw bridge.....

We have reaped what we sowed... Me I chose not to blame someone else but to take ownership of a problem.....

Jamaica is not perfect but at this point in my life, there's no place i'd rather live.

i also believe that Jamaica (along with the rest of the Caribbean and other formerly colonized regions of the world) is on the cusp of an era of peace & prosperity. No, this is not guaranteed but the conditions are ripe.

Lastly, Jamaica could use the help of some of its well-intentioned and dedicated daughters & sons who left but have not yet moved back. If unu heart clean den unu 'urry up an come jine de struggle!!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

My yute mi go dung a Jamaica in 1992 fi three week. By the time mi left mi count ovah 38 people dead pon di news or by mouth. Dis ting a happen long raatid time. Who evah seh it happen every where is right, however little Jamaica death toll is way too high fi such a small country.

So now that yu teck ownership of the problem. What are you going to do about it?

Trust mi my yute. I was talking to my wife about moving back to Jamaica and she don't want dat. Thats the palce I want to to be until the ends of my days. But mi no want dem man yah fi end my days fi dem way. Jamaia is not on no path to peae and prosperity. The conditions are far from it. Dat deh coffe yu a drink need more caffine fi walk yu up.
