I have so much to do and I'm dragging my feet, just hanging around the house, calling friends and family.


It lifts my spirits to come in and read your good wishes and condolences.

So many people I have called today have shared their memories and experiences. And there are MANY...

I want to thank all of you personally in time. But for now, please know that you give me strength and that warm fuzzy feeling...

Reggaeton... My dad had so many visitors and phone calls on Thursday that the nurses turned the ringer off on his phone and barred visitors because he needed to rest.
I never got to see him to say good-bye.

My last memory of him is from last weekend when he was at a family cookout in a Hawaiian shirt.
He hugged me up, gave me a kiss and told me he loved me, as he always has.
That works for me.

I will never have a memory of him on death's door and I'm sure that's fine with him, as it is for me.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing away of your father. I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I lost my father this past November of cancer and my mom several years ago of cancer too. So I understand your pain. I am still feeling the unhappiness and emptiness here in my heart of not having both my wonderful parents of whom I love so deeply.

My heart goes out to you. I have lost my Daddy too, so I know how you feel.

I hope that this is not too old because I have told this before.

I can't sit and listen to people talk for long, so I really squirm in church and sometimes do not really LISTEN to the sermon. My past minister once preached on the 5 types of healing. He liked to do "point" sermons, as in I will make three points today or 4 or 5 or on a long day 6.

I really did not listen to healings 1-4, but woke up when he got to #5 because I knew it was almost over.

"And then there is the fifth type of healing....death." Ok he had me now, how could death be a HEALING?

He went on to explain that when we pray for someone's healing as a loved one, we envision the miracle that will make our loved one whole, complete and disease free again. The type of healing that will return them to us the way WE want.

So he said, in death, the taking of individual over to "his side", God makes them well. He said that some times they are too sick for God to salvage in this world, so he takes them to his, where he can give you just what you prayed for.

He hastened to add that we sometime bemoan this because we wanted them to be OK HERE , where we can see it, but he said that sometimes, God does not work it that way, and it is not our choice.

So in a way, your prayers, and all of the ones of your friends here at Ja.com WERE answered, we just have to be christian enough, and have FAITH enough to believe and accept.

ohhhhhhhhh (((((QK))))))...when i saw this thread title ... a chill came over me...broke my heart to read your Dad has passed. He sounded like a great guy...and you seem to possess much of his character. Much strength to you in the next few days...and may time and memories help you to heal. My daddy passed a couple years ago of lung cancer - he was in the mountains of NH and didn't want us to know he was ill. My sister happened to go up there from Florida for a visit and found him in the hospital (like your Dad, also entertaining the nurses with his goings on) He was kind of annoyed that she found him but he only lasted a couple of days after that. I'm glad one of us kids was with him.
