I do hear ya Natty. Dis wan is a close call. If I were Terry - I would wild out an not want to pay him a dime. If I were Jonathan, I would think I deserved 1/3 of the total revenue that was generated from stories and movies of our romance.

But after the anger, if I was Terry, seeing as I could afford to pay him to get the f out of my life - I would try to reach an amicable settlement where he might not be rich, but could live a comfortable gay life in America in exchange for an agreement that both parties remain silent about the relationship in the future.

The alternative is that he make money describing in detail the number of gray hairs on her chachi, how she smelled, whether she was dry and needed lubricant, even how often she farted.

She needs to get past her anger and protect her image before too much suss gets published.

hmmmm, think its a little too late about the suss. What is out is already way to personal in my opinion, and the damage is already done. Heck, I am all up in they bizness! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Would not want to walk a mile in her shoes. She will eventually get past the anger, right now, she probably is spitting mad, and more so at herself than she is him. Feeling, humilated and embarassed, well she put herself out there in the public, now she has to face the music.

I agree, I would try to strike a settlement with him, just for peace sake, but, I definitely would not want him to be a monthly dependent and reminder of my mistake! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Jonathan made a choice to come to America. From the sound of it he had ulterior motives (we all do, some good and some bad ones). Why should she have to take care of him? He is a grown azz man. He didn't lose nothing by marrying her (other than staying deeper in the closet)sounds like to me had many benefits (financial).

My best friend and I were discussing this yesterday and she said the same thing NDG. I asked her how/why would a man hang around with a woman for 10 years just to get his citizenship? How can a person fake it for so long for a piece of paper. Especially if he's gay.

Her response, (she's Jamaican), is that this is what they realize they have to go thru and they do it. It matters nothing to them (foreigners)about the length of time. But they mostly pay the Sponsors not the other way around. My ex's ex-wife married and took care of 2 American men to get a Green Card and never got one. She was married to the 3rd one for over 3 years before she finally got it and conspired to hang on to him until she got her citizenship. He caught on to it, flipped the script and now she cannot get rid of him. She's a successful Real Estate Broker and he lives off of her. He has not had a job since I've known them. She buys houses and he was smart enough to have her to put some of them in his name so if she played the Jonathan Plummer trick, he would still have a source of income.

People just need to be careful when they deal with someone coming from another country and start talking about marriage. Like NDG said, some come with good and bad motives and a lot of the times, innocent people get caught up in their deceit and some get hurt. Poor Terry. She should have known much better. I hope she gets over it without losing too much.

Times have changed. My cousin married a Jamaican years ago so he could get his citizenship. I have been asked to do the same (No way Jose).

A friend of mine arranged for her best friend to marry her Jamaican boyfriend so he could get to the states. My friend was married and couldn't do it herself. We actually went to Jamaica for the "wedding" but best friend bailed at the last minute (she increased the ante).

After Stella though, a lot of men realized that they did not need to pay, they only needed to charm. We have had enough horror stories on this board of women who were duped. For most of the women, I do feel empathy - especially the young ones who are not experienced enough to know the game.

For older women and women who have more experience than their Jamaican lover, like Miss Mc - I find it harder to sympathize.

The cat is out of the bag, so it is too late for her to have a quiet, dignified divorce. But I am sure there are many more lurid details she can protect by coming to a legal financial agreement with Jonathan (the agreement may even include who gets to write the story and how much profit each receives from it.)

She can probably forfeit a certain amount of ducats and not feel it, but she cannot avoid public humiliation if she allows more and more of her personal info to be made public simply because she is a woman scorned.

Reading some of the comments she made out of anger makes me wonder how writers like E. Lynn Harris would respond...

Tigrrr, do you really consider her a woman scorned? I think it's more of a woman deceived. There are plenty of women who are losing their husbands because they suddenly decided they love men. They aren't all as wealthy or well known as Terry, but I would not consider them scorned either. Of course, they are mad as hades, but scorned??

I've read all of E. Lynn Harris' books and just recently read both books by JL King. Some women are really in the dark. Men have perfected this DL stuff and the thuggest of the thugs have decided more than their women. They have deceived all who know them. They appear to be thugs, casanovas, preachers, athletes, macho men, etc. But come night fall, the seek another man to lay up with. If woman leaves a man like that and is enraged, I would not consider her a woman scorned. She's a woman wronged. Even if she saw signs and held out hope that she was wrong.

Now, if he used her to get her money and left her for another woman, maybe then she would be scorned. At least she knew he was straight in that case.

As to the argument that HSGHGB was not used to sell Jamaica and the Stella Experience that is not true.
I remember the hoopla surrounding the book and eventually the movie and the fact that the JTB was one of the sponsors for the movie.

I know a few ladies who went to Jamaica on that tip.

Goody, my assumption is that he must have had sexual contact with a man to know he is gay. In a marriage, sexual contact with anyone other than the wife is cheating (regardless of orientation.)

I can't speak for all women - BUT I WOULD BE A WOMAN SCORNED if my man was having sex with anyone but me. I think finding out that it was homosexual would make me a ****** off, fearful, angry, disillusioned, confused, hurt and embittered woman scorned.
