Just saying hi and its good to be able to share with someone the emotions of pulling up roots and moving.
I should be selling my car today, and its very stressfull. Getting rid of "assets" drive home the point that I am actually leaving.
I find myself feeling down for no reason, and then 5 min later I'm fine.

I bought myself a Palm PDA yesterday and was setting up my business card. As I was doing so, I realize that i can no longer put the "big" position I had at XXXX beside my name.. Now I am just Xxxxx Xxxxx, no linger Xxxxx Xxxxx, Systems Engineer, XXXX (smile).. Cho..
I had registered a business name to do a likkle roast on the side, so I guess I'll use it huh..
Yeah thats right .. Xxxxx Xxxxx, Managing Director, Xxxxx Technologies..
hahahah.. I fell better already.. (smile)

Hail up X! no badah with the sad face today. I'm going to tell yuh someting that neither you nor your family knows yet..but I know they will join you later. You know how I know? because my brother who was in Jamaica felt the same way your baby brother is feeling right now..."No, sah, mi nah leave" ray, ray. Well, guess where he is now? He too left him good, good paying job with a growing IT company and started over. So, just give your family time. When you reach here, write and tell dem only the good tings and downplay the bad. Tell them how you can leave your window open and go to sleep You have to leave, so that you can become the pathfinder for them..believe me on this.

Regarding your title, if all else fails, just call yuhself Xxxxx - Jamaican Pioneer..dat should do!

It's been very hot over the past few days, miss the trade winds from Jamaica but hey, mi not complaining ..winter will be here fast enough.

I'm having a great day today. City Workers are still on strike in Toronto, so garbage is piling up in the city, but Mississauga is not affected - it's a different city

Hey here's an update.
My friend in Mississauga has identified a 2bdroom apartment for me. Its on Rathburn Road East. They got the security earlier this week, and the apt sould be ready for possession on Monday.
Now that took a big load off my mind, whew!.

I'll keep you posted..

I truly appreciate your offer of assistance. I definatley will need any positive help I can get.

This is a big move for me. People at work keep coming up to me asking why am I leaving when I am in such a decent position here. But trust mi, I have and am loosing my motivation here. Its not about money alone, cause they pay me well here and I hold a decent position, but I am prepared to start from scratch to live in a society that my children and wife can be happy and have some sense of safety.

I've been having nightmares about my country, and its affecting my work. Did I tell you I had a dream I was shot by a police in a squad during an operation, the same morning the guys in Breaton was being shot by the police? I remember the dream vividly. I wrote it down somewhere. I'll find it and send it to you.

I miss my family already. My little brother says he doesnt want to think of me leaving, and doesnt even wants to come to the airport cause him noh waant to bawl like how he bawled when my father left fpr the states.

I call my sister every morning just fi check up cause I know I wont be able to do so in a few weeks time.

My wife will remain here and finish her degree at UTECH. She and my daughter will join me in mid August.
That said, I will be actively seeking an apartment.

I was looking into Mississauga since its close to TO. But the rent is sooo high! However how I see it, what I pay in rent, I'll save in transportation cost.
My second choice is Hamilton. I will be there for the first week at least as thats where my friend thats suppose to pick me up at the airport lives..

Whats your experience there been like? I'll email you a pic of me and my family. Whats your email address? You had sent it in a PM, but when I repied the PM and now I cannot find it.

Hey on the flip side mi glad mi meet yuh.. You seem like a really decent soul. Mi feel better bout the move knowing that mi will be monst people like yourself.
Yuh know, no matter what bad name we get as Jamaicans, when we good, nobady better than us..

I live in Mississauga..do you want a real estate person to help you find an apartment? is it somewhere temporary until your family gets here or will it be home when they get here? how much are you willing to pay? I could look around for you.

I love Canada. It has it's faults like everywhere else, but it's a very safe place to grow a family and the quality of life is the best in the world.

Toronto is a good place to work the big bucks..so later on when you gained the "Canadian Experience" you might want to job hunt downtown Toronto. I came here in xxxx..yes racism exists adn you will feel it or experience it, but overall life is good.

Let me know if I can be of further help. I live here with my brother and a sister..nephews, cousins and good friends. I have no ties to Jamaica anymore..all my family are in North America...only memories I have of Jamaica...some friends who I write to..but I haven't been back since Gilbert struck I hate having to go back as a tourist..but that is what I will be when I eventually make the visit home.

Oh btw, you can still call your sister everyday..just make sure you buy a phone card and make like a 2 minute call a day..don't worry..things will be ok.
