When did you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour?
In 1982 at a Campus Fellowiship Rally, I got the Holy Ghost, my battle however was a long one. That's why I can emphasize with the many learned folks here who struggle with the surrender issue in accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. I was one such full of pride in my education and ability to reason things out for myself. Boy was I wrong.
Tell us about your church experiences. Did you grow up in the church?
Thank God for Grandmothers, mine was an old Christian Mission member who knew how to prayer, each Sunday Morning her prayers would fill our home as she spoke to the Lord about the family, I would awake to her prayers and wait for the mention of my name, she called everyone by name you see, and if you were well not good that week she was sure to spend a little more time with God about you.
At the age of four she presented me to a man who would be my mentor untill he died. The family had started attending the anglican church and she wanted all her grands involved in the church, so I became a member of the choir first, accolytes second, later I would be a youth group leader. Church have always been a part of my life and my family in New York still Anglican are as devout and involved my mom a past Board Member, my sister a current one. I could bore you with family and church.
Where are you today in your walk?
I have made some horrible decisions in my adult life and my testimony have suffered as a result. Personally my relationship with God have never better as I have had a lot of time to as you say dig deep in his grace. I have however taken some time to repair my relationship with some people I have hurt when I made a wrong turn.
Are you involved with any ministries? If so, please share.

What would you say has been the most positive thing about being a Christian?
Peace that passes understanding. Assurance that it all comes out right in the end. Joy that comes from serving the Lord. The experience of going through testing failing and the redemption in restoration.
Would you recommend a relationship with Christ to non-believers? Why?
In every life there is some turmoil some loss, when that happens it challenges our core values, we either take it out on ourselves, on others or we give up. I have found that there's a shelter a strength, an assurance that there is greater, richer higher more fullfilling form of life, that this is but a shadow. A christian experiences in praise a touch of that glorious life, you know that you know that there is a much more glorious life than this, and to live life here abundantly its not from valley to valley there are mountaintop experiences which lift us out of the valleys of life.
Do you have spiritual mentors?
Yes I do, I mentioned one earlier.

I am a teacher and a counsellor. I once had an experience that still frightens me, its in the arena of prophesy and healings. I don't want to elaborate here like I said it both humbled and frighten me.
What are your Scripture reading habits?
I have a very curious mind, I desire revelations of the hidden things of God, I feast on the word, the mention of any scripture thats unfamiliar sends me deep into the Word, I love to study the Word so I keep my radio tuned to christian Radio and each time there's a new message or new slant to a message I delve for hours in scripture, concordance and commentaries help, but it the written word that inspires, you are always surprise at how much the Bible answers itself, how many times the greek corrects the english and the precepts line up with precepts. Its as though the answers are there waiting to be found if you just take the time out to seek for them in awe and faith. God's word is awesome.
How would you describe your prayer life?
Lacking. Its times of distress that drives me to prayer, I spend a lot of time on the road and learned behaviour dies hard, God always seems closer when you close your eyes, can't do a lot of that driving. But alone in the car I have discussions with God. Then one weekend every now and then I decide this one is a fasting weekend and I dive in. Guess my soul suffers from God deprivation. Interesting, I never suffer from hunger pangs those weekends that I have those unplanned fasts. Food falls into subjection. Its the soul thats thirsty.
How often do you pray?
I don't have a schedule as such, see above.
Do you seek God’s direction in all aspects of your life?
Unfortunately, No.
I have paid for that.
I normally muddle through things and then somewhere along the 'mess up' try to get God involved. Time and again, but you know something, God will let us mess up, but while he will always forgive our failings, we however bear the consequences of our mess.
When it comes to Knees Time however its all out there,tears and all, no shame there.
Would you share a story about someone you've brought to Christ, if so?
One? {G...} came to work with us for three weeks as a relief worker, he noticed many folks came to me for counselling and would come throughout the day to question me on the Bible. It was reaching a point where he was interrupting my work. We had a convention that week and I invited everyone at the office, he came, during the altar call I was there assisting those praying at the altar, I turned and there was 'G' and right there he got the Holy Ghost, right in front of me he collapsed and I had to lift him up. The next week he was called back to Kingston for a permanent position. It was a period I was strugling with personal decisions and I felt unqualified to help him but God can use anyone. It still humbles me, the memory.
Do you have an accountability partner?I do now.
What is your favourite book and why?
Guess you already know the answer to that. But the Bible is not a book to me its more like an answer manual. I change favorites everytime I get a new one. Current favorite is "Six battles every man must win" Bill Perkins.
Do you listen to secular music? If so, what type?
I love music, from Bach to Bob. Christian music is my forte but the words must say something, I am enamored by praise music, I get goosebumps, and water filled eyes with music that touch your soul. A christmas Handel still tranfixes me. My anglgican roots I guess.
Do you have a favourite gospel artist? If so, who and why?
No to favorite, yes to favourites, hard to pick one.
What are the greatest struggles or obstacles that you face in your walk with Christ?
Pride. I thought I was too good to fall, used to condemn others for failure, still expects too much from myself. That's why I try not to cut corners now call sin by it name and submit my will to God. A work in progress.
Do you ever have doubts or scriptual teachings that you have difficulty accepting?
Yes the man made ones. I have problems with Pastors claiming to disobey their rules is disobeying God. Follow me as I follow Christ, Paul advises. Some man made rules serve purpose but in the wrong hands they seek to controll peoples lives. I question rules outside the scope of biblical parameters. I submit every christian should be a Berean, searching the scriptures to see if these things are so, thats why I love the debates and discussions here, contrary to the opinion of some I have learned much in this forum through debate.

What do you feel are your areas for greatest spiritual and personal growth?
Humility in accepting what God would have me do. Faith in relying on him more, and submitting my will to that faith.

Accepted, thanks again for sharing. I can feel the humility in your words. Whatever brought you to this point, no matter how painful, give God thanks. Nothing Just Happens and in the midst of our weakest and trying moments, if we allow Him, God will make us victorious.

Same here. I alluded a bit to it and I'm still a bit scared. We surrender our lives and ask God to use us but sometimes, we're not quite prepared for the way He uses us.

Accepted, Compry was being obedient. I cannot tell you how much I struggled with starting this. With each excuse I made, God provided a better reason why I had to do it.

I so relate to this. God is looking for anyone who is willing and in the process He qualifies them. Borrowing my friend's line, "No matter where we find ourselves in life or how badly we think we have done, God can always find something in us to use."
