In 1982 at a Campus Fellowiship Rally, I got the Holy Ghost...

Accepted are there times when you struggle with determining if you are being lead by the Holy Spirit or by self? If so, how do you make the distinction?

The Holy Spirit, No.
We all have strengths and weaknesses, I know my areas of strength.
For example Drugs will not work on me for I dislike even taking pain killers for headaches.

But there are strenghts which can lead to weakness. You earlier said you are considered 'too nice' and I likewise put myself out on a limb for others.
You can so easily be used in your percieved helpfullness and over time praise can become a weakness. The effects are as powerful as any drug.

Men are very vulnerable to praise, christian men moreso.
You have to be careful when in leadership that you do not appropiate the goodness of God for yourself.
Praise like a drug, is seductive. So while you may not fall to drugs you can fall to self.

You know when you are feeding off praise you are just too innebrated to heed the warning signs of the spirit.
I have seen example of many men falling to their own selfrighteousness. Thats why men need to be accountable to others.

Yes he was a man. It happened to David and to Moses.
The Holy Spirit is given to give us power in our witness, but our will can fight the spirit we can go it alone, without prayer, without the spirit.

Practise makes habbit, Samson toyed with Deliah, but her persistence time after time wore out his resolve. Likewise we can be worn out by the fatigue of going on our own strength.

What a great question and even better answer by accepted. (which by the way accepted, I consider what you said to be a true honor..really, I have admired you from afar for years..thank you.)

Comps or accepted or anyone who is led to answer.. I had gotten to a point where I wasn't sure of the Holy Spirits prompting/voice..so I struggled with 'is this the Holy Spirit or is this my flesh?'..I got to where (I'm still there somewhat) I have stated "God if you don't move me I won't go because I HAVE to know it is your Spirit" so I don't move until I am "forced" meaning PULLED by the Holy Spirit without human reasoning.. then I know it is He and not me. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] so....

Question: is that good, bad...normal, safe? lacking faith?...the way to learn?

What are the greatest struggles or obstacles that you face in your walk with Christ?
Pride. I thought I was too good to fall, used to condemn others for failure, still expects too much from myself. That's why I try not to cut corners now call sin by it name and submit my will to God. A work in progress.

Do you ever have doubts or scriptual teachings that you have difficulty accepting?
Yes the man made ones. I have problems with Pastors claiming to disobey their rules is disobeying God. Follow me as I follow Christ, Paul advises. Some man made rules serve purpose but in the wrong hands they seek to controll peoples lives. I question rules outside the scope of biblical parameters. I submit every christian should be a Berean, searching the scriptures to see if these things are so, thats why I love the debates and discussions here, contrary to the opinion of some I have learned much in this forum through debate.

Accepted, I am very impressed with your testimony and can see a true Godfearing Christian here!

The two answers I have quoted realy grabbed me and I think these are issues that many in the Body still struggle with. We can only be overcomers if we first admit we have something to overcome and then make the effort while relying on God.
