usage of the word: "a"
1. it can be a pronoun for "I" - "a soon come fi yu"
2. it also converts a verb into present participle. in other words it's a jamaican way of adding "-ing" to a verb.
- "shi a peel di pittata dem" = she is peeling the potatoes.
- "di pickney waina bawl" = the child was crying (past tense usage)
in your example "a gwine" there is some redundancy/repetition that made it incorrect.
"gwine" = going
"a go" = going
so it's either "yuh gwine help?" or "yu a go help?", but not "yuh a gwine help?".
hope this helps.
