The Virgin Islands has a VERY strong tie to the other islands of the northeastern Caribbean because those other islands (St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, St. Martin, Dominica, etc) pretty much repopulated the Virgin Islands after the great migration of Virgin Islands natives to the U.S starting in the early 1900s.

My dad's from St. Kitts and moved to St. Thomas.
