I know the Red Cross is international and is historically the agency that you think of when you think of relief but I seem to remember some years back that there was some question as to their finances. Maybe around 2006, during the Hurricane Katrina era? </span>

Re: Donating to the Haiti Relief
I donated thru Yele.org, Wyclef's project - i know there's been some chat about it but i really don't believe what they're saying.
with the RC, they pool donations into a 'general' fund which is used for many different things, at their discretion, so you don't know that your donation will go specifically to what you are donating for. they direct the funds to various places as they see fit.
nothing really wrong with that, but with Yele it goes specifically to Haiti. to me it doesn't matter if money gets there right now, or months down the road cause they will need it for years, not just immediately.
it actually makes me feel better that when the media hype dies down, Wyclef will still be supporting Haiti specifically, regardless of whether or not the world continues to have its' attention on them-
