its self-preservation:-
1) there are 8mill haitians &amp; 300,000 bahamians
2) different culture &amp; language etc
3) the poor, unskilled &amp; illiterate ones come to the bahamas
No one lets ppl take over their home
Bahamians have helped the haitians more than other nations in the region. And per capita they probably helped more than the US

That is the irony, some of them are descendants of the very &quot;people' they abuse...like Caymanians and now-a-days Jamaicans... [was different before]

I will check, because I dont believe 2/3 are from elsewhere, that seems too high. Anyway, anyone born after bahamian independence 10 july 73 to foreign parents isnt a bahamian &amp; has to apply for status.

For sure, more than any other nation in the region, cannot dispute dat...but still...so aniboddie think or believe these &quot;do-gooders&quot; are so doing out of a guilty conscience? and although it might sound judgmental, mi juss putting here, some of what mi heard in the media..

It was up to 1992 when I was last in the Bahamas. Our family lived there in the 60s. My last sister is born there and live with here husband whose family is originally from Turks and Caicos. The original Bahamians are from South Carolina.

As you probably know, the Turks &amp; Caicos Islands were once a part of the bahamas &amp; at another time part of Jamaica.

So does your family consider themselves bahamians.

200 years ago the Bahamas except for a few islands (none of which makes up the two most important commercial areas) were mainly unsettled!
