Haiti's President Rene Preval says he will ask the US to stop food aid to his country, because of the risk of damaging the economy, when he meets with President Barack Obama on Wednesday.
Washington has been leading international rebuilding efforts in Port-au-Prince since the 12 January earthquake.
But Mr Preval says the aid could hurt his country's economy in the long term.
"If they continue to send us aid from abroad it will be in competition with the national Haitian production and Haitian commerce," Mr Preval said.
