If the black community is looking for more positive young role models, Stacey Armstrong wants it known he’s ready, willing and able.
With his good looks, intelligence, strong work ethic and love of family, country and community, 28-year-old Armstrong fits the bill.
Toronto-born, of Jamaican background, Armstrong believes his community needs more young men to promote a positive image, and show there’s a far better way to live life than through crime and violence so prevalent these days.
And it’s something Armstrong feels he’s now in a position to do with authority — especially since he was crowned Mr. Caribbean Canada in the Canadian segment of the Mr. Caribbean International Contest, held in Toronto recently.
The annual contest, which will be finalized at the fun resort Hedonism III in Jamaica this October (2005) showcases some of the finest young men from varying areas of the Caribbean, and celebrates not just their fitness, image and style but also their commitment to their culture, community and country.
“We want to promote positive images of men from different Caribbean backgrounds,” says Dave Smith, CEO/producer of Mr. Caribbean International (Mrcaribbeaninternational.com) and a Toronto-based personal fitness trainer. “Our aim is to support our contestants and the young men in our society as they achieve personal growth, professional success, self assurance and community development.” It’s an ambitious and noble mandate that Armstrong takes very seriously.
He’s already well along the road to personal success, having graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in applied mathematics, and is now employed as a financial data analyst. He also owns his own graphic design company, Sho-off.ca.
