Increase in tourist arrivals in the Caribbean
Several Caribbean countries have seen an increase in their tourist arrivals for the first quarter of this year compared to 2005.
Figures released by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation this week revealed that Antigua enjoyed a four percent increase while Barbados saw a four and a half per cent increase.
Over in Grenada their increase was 13 per cent with Guyana enjoying an increase of 15 per cent.
But St. Lucia experienced a 10 per cent decline in arrivals for the January to March period. The decline came despite the fact that the island registered a significant increase in hotel rooms and airline seats.
Jamaica enjoyed a 19 per cent increase in visitor arrival over the period, the highest in the region.
