38 days and counting....I'll be in Aruba. This is my first time going and I've done lots of research but would love to hear reports from people who've been.

Re: ARUBA
I enjoyed Aruba. Really small, so you can take in quite a bit in one day. You won't get too hot or sticky as there's always a tradewind. The people are friendly and it's pretty safe. One thing that surprised me is how deserty it is. There are cacti just about everywhere. I would have never thought that of Aruba.
It's not too far from Venezuela and Curacao either, so you could probably do a quick hop there as well.
Enjoy and don't forget to do a trip report when you get back.

One of the girls traveling wanted to hop over to the other close by islands but we opted not to on this trip. It would have been nice though.
We haven't decided on renting a car or not -- did you and was it worth it?

Re: ARUBA
Yes, we did rent a car for a day, moreso for the convenience. The hotel where we stayed did the rental for us and had the car delivered as well. I did take the public bus a couple of days though and that was fine. You don't have to rent one for the entire trip. It would probably be a waste.

I think renting for a day or so will be our best bet. Public bus will work fine for us as we haven't planned much at all.

It seems Aruba is not really #1 for lots of folks as I had to pull teeth to get friends to join me on this timeshare exchange (i.e. accomodations are free for them). I've ben told there isn't much going on in Aruba but it has always been on my list of places to visit. I'm looking forward to being just a lazy bum on the beach.

Re: ARUBA
I agree...deserty but very nice. You'll have a wonderful time.
If you get a chance go http://www.jamaicamekrazy.com - the food was very good. I thought the food overall pricy in Aruba but worth every penny.

Re: ARUBA
Down to 32 days and even more excitement is building. I'm still waiting to get the final group decision on the car. I think we'll end up not renting and depending on the bus or cabs for the few moments we're not on the beach.
I will defineitly checkout the restaurant you recommended Ellis -- the menu looks very good!
I always say I'll do a trip report and then never do but this time I will try and oblige!

Re: ARUBA
I am a newbie so here is my virgin post....
Aruba is a lovely country but compared to Jamaica .... No Contest. Be very careful of the tradewinds you will think you are cool and burn to the bone... The hotel I stayed at harvested aloe for me to take care of my burns and I NEVER burn anywhere else. There are a few things you must do like the Natural Pool . There are only two ways down to it ...In a small suzuki cheap jeep , on two wheels most of the way down and by horse. Both will have you thinking about your life insurance policy back home...but when you reach its so worth it. The light house was another favorite. Also the Booze Cruises...great fun.... everytime someone orders a screaming orgasm ...the boat becomes fun. One side of the island is all desert and on that side beaches are off limits because of barracuda and shark but the drive is awesome...remember the sunblock, the highest # you can find
