Rihanna's laid this little gem on the people over at Allure magazine:

I was a little confused as a kid because I grew up with my mum, and my mum is Black. So I was cultured in a very ‘black’ way. But when I go to school, I’m getting called ‘white’.

They would look at me and would curse me out. I didn’t understand. I just knew I saw people of all different shades and I was light. [But now that I'm out of Barbados], I’m in a much bigger world.”

Rihanna done lost her mind. First she goes around claiming that her Daddy was Irish (check out the pic of the Irish salesman below), now she's going around talking this mess.

And have y'all noticed that she never stops taking stabs at Barbados. What have the people of Barbados ever done to her??? Next time she makes her way out to the island, someone's gonna snatch the weave right off her head..."

hmm i did think that she was bi-racial, (having read it elsewhere), until i just looked at the picture of her father...(maybe that is her stepfather?)

anyway :shrug:..it's possible that the things she said that she experienced growing up in Barbados, are true. One of my friends had similar issues while going to school in Florida.

I read somewhere that her mother is Guyanese and her father is bajan.

Being ultra-conservative people, some Barbadians alledgedly used to criticize her taste in clothing in her early appearances and perhaps didn't take her career seriously...so I guess she was without a little honour in her country until she became a big hit.
