?Island hopping?

Has anyone here done it? or know how easy it is?

I was considering going travelling to the far east, thailand, malaysia etc but now thinking maybe about caribbean insted.

Is it easy to get between the islands?

One trip to St.Lucia, we 'hopped' over by air to St.Vincent, then took a ferry to Bequia (one of the Grenadine islands). On the way back (via) St.Vincent we flew to Martinique.

It was fairly easy. It was a local airline (not BWIA) we took from St.Lucia-->St. Vincent-->Martinique-->St.Lucia. I really cannot remember how much we paid for the ticket but it was very inexpensive...nothing that will blow your pocket. The ferry to the Grenadine island was just $40. There is a ferry that also leaves from St.Lucia to Martinique. We loved St. Lucia but St. Vincent captured our hearts much more.

Just a telephone call to the airline and checking out the marina we were able to book flights and secure ferry destination.

I've been to caribbean a few times but always package holidays, wanting to go for longer though. So far i have about £4500 ( about $9000 us dollars) saved to play with, deff want to go to Jamaica and Dominican republic as have people to visit there, other than that quite open to ideas as to where nice and how long you think my budget will stretch to go for.........

LIAT used to have a island hopping pass good for 30 days for unlimited travel around the islands...not sure if they still do [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

OMG!!! Just had a play on liat website, just put in ramdom places for now, barbados, antigua, tobago and greneda so 4 flights and it came to $291/£134. That is so cheep!!!!! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img]

I went there for a week 2years ago, stayed at the Jalousie plantation, but becuase it was in such beautiful surroundings and so peaceful didnt end up leaving the hotel so i'd love to go back and see more. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]
