You started the question 'as a believer' so I answered in that light. My faith is yes dependent on the bible and my relationship with Jesus Christ [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] .

Man made technology can be wonderful or destructive but I worship the one who created the Man. Looking at what we know in science today, I see no evidence of life elsewhere. I still like to watch Star Trek (de ole time ones) though. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

The Mosaic laws concerning cleansing and dealing with diseases were pretty advance for that time.

They did not know about those miniscule things called germs, but the Hebrew people had strict rules concerning quarantine (pretty high tech for back then eh?).
Check out Leviticus, concerning veneral disease and leprosy
Most virus and bacteria are carried in fluids, hence the restrictions or the title of 'unclean', placed on a woman during menstruation, makes sense.

hi, nisa - just wanted to say a lot of non-Christian cultures have similar beliefs about uncleanliness and about the need for quarantine to contain disease. Such practices are not really an invention of Judeo Christianity.

Royalty, Job 40:22 says:

"The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about."

what you are actually quoting is Isaiah 40:22:

"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:"

Isaiah is describing the earth as a circle, not a ball, with a dome-shaped tent (the sky) covering the land.

earlier ,""24:1, God turns the world upside down to scatter it's inhabitants. this again would suggest a flat earth.

there are other parts as well that support a flat earth belief, to say nothing of the geo-centrism.

even if the bible had this part right, there are many other reasons as to why this could be other than the one you suggest.

i heard that the Vatican stated that if there is other intelligent life out there, they would have souls and require saving too. does anyone know if this is true?

i can't imagine there could be a life-form more arrogant than we are.

When you say believers I'm gonna assume you do mean believers in the existance of our Creator...The topic does life exist on other planets..My answer is pretty much like everyone else's opinion..It is an opinion when this question is answered by us..individuals because truly we do not know or have any theory of such..The scriptures do speak of the realms of the supernatural..It states that there are angels who are just a bit higher than man...who live in the heavens and are constantly recording the events in our lives back to The Creator to be recorded in the book of life that we shall be judged by at the time of our ressurection..The book that determines where we will fit in for the next life that we will live..Will that life be in heaven in the kingdom of The Most High or in hell with Lucifer and his own....
