Re: Is This The Biblical Mark of The Beast?
MM, I think that the idea is for people to have this chip implanted, at some point, if each person chooses it - the incentive being such things as instant access to info that non-chippers must get the old-fashioned way (time-consuming research).
Just as I shall never have the E-ZPass for my car (remember I live in NJ), as I will defend to death my right for the state NOT to know my every damn move daily (a similar such intrusion against my own constitutionally-guaranteed rights)... I shall not allow myself to be microchipped, either, should it become available in my lifetime (a distinct possibility).
I'll wait in a longer line for cash-only tollbooths, thank you very much, just as I'll take the time and trouble to look things up manually. Google+DSL is fast enough for me, thanks.
Interestingly, Mr. Witchy - normally the first to be willing to "sign up" for such technological carp - would die before he allowed himself to be microchipped. In fact, he won't even allow a picture driver license, never mind such intrusions as E-ZPass... or the chip! And FORGET about Onstar auto technology!! NEVER gonna happen with any car Mr. W or I own!!
I asked Mr. W what he's gonna do when he must next renew his NJ driver's license, as the new law will then be implemented. (It requires photo, now, and does away with the non-photo version) He sin't sure, yet, but he says that he may find himself having to go the "patriot/constitutional-right-activists" route at that point in time. I'll just let 'em take my pic, for goodness sake. I don't see it as enough to be worth all the trouble to fight it that way. I would fight enforced E-ZPass or microchipping in that manner, if it came down to that, just not a photo...
All this reminds me of Star Trek. And frankly, I am NOT AT ALL interested in being "assimilated" by "the Borg"!
Mark of the Beast? No. Not unless George W turns out to BE The Beast!
