Queen, VW: Thanks for joining in on the discussion. I really do appreciate your insights on this somewhat fascinating subject.

It was only a month or so ago that I had a similar experience to Queen's with my keys except I listened to the voice to go back to Church (I had no intention to) and after spending several minutes searching unsuccessfully, opened my front door only to see the keys - including the keys to my then 2-month old car parked in my driveway, and 2 gas purchase fobs linked to my credit card - dangling in the lock! It amazes me that even in the routine and mundane things, God is paying attention and I really had to share it with a few people then.

There are way too much examples I could share - as I am sure you guys could too - but there really is no greater feeling than being able to recognize His voice. As Queen so rightly stated, "It can't be compared to any other."

VW's experience with the young man really makes me wonder what would have happened had she resisted the voice to go speak with him. It is true that God would perhaps use someone else, but what I find gratifying is the obedience even when the outward signs did not seem very encouraging. It brings to mind what Mary, the mother of Jesus, said to the guests at the wedding at Cana: "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." (John 2:5). Those are instructions that I am more than happy to follow.

It's funny you should ask this because I know without a shadow of a doubt that had I failed to listen, He would have used someone else. The reason I am so convinced of this was immediately after the service one of the praise & worship leaders came to me and told me that God had spoke to him before I got up to go and pray with this young man. Of course he found every excuse not to go seeing he was on stage and had to leave the P&W to go to the back to talk to this young man. The bottom line here is God knew this person was ready to make the most important decision of his life and He was not about to let anyone stand in the way of that happening, so He would find someone eventually who would be willing and able to do what He wanted done.

He told me when he saw me walking to the back to talk to this person who later accomapanied me to the altar and gave his life to God, he felt so guilty for not obeying God. It was then that I realized that God will use whoever He chooses to, and because He is no respector of people, if you choose not to listen then He will find someone else to do the job and you would have missed out on your blessing. I realized that night that one person or persons cannot stop kingdom work - that work will go on whether you choose to be obedient or not.

I was talking to my friends about it, thinking of marriage counseling...I just didn't know what to do. I decided I needed to go to our Womens retreat as I do every year and I knew there was a word for me in my spirit but I just figured that all of my feelings would be justified. A prophetess was preaching the first night and she was saying a word let me tell you but near the end of her preaching she was preparing her self..or the Holy Spirit was gettin ready to speak through her..If you have seen a prophetess you know what this looks like..she is reacting as if the Holy Spirit was truly grieved and as she spoke some women reacted in the audience as if the Holy Spirit was speaking to THEM..

Then..she gets weapy eyed..she/HE speaks: Why are you questioning what I gave to you? I am speaking to you and you are not listening!..you are talking to everyone but meeee

I am so still I can feel my heart pounding out of my chest..I think I am gonna have a heart attack.

It is obvious she is grieved and she/He continues Talk to meeee..why won't you talk to meeee? you want to go to counseling, you are looking to every one to see if it is me..you KNOW it is me. stop looking and talk to meeee.

mi naily ded. wooooiiiie I knew that was for me and I stopped looking for answers from everywhere else and ever since then there is no need for counseling...EVERYTHING turned from that point on..I wasn't listening, I thought I was done.

You can never be "done". Once you hear the word of God you cannot go backward..yuh just can't cuz somethin else is coming.

I'm lovin this post myself [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I'm still a baby in Christ,but not really. I realize now he's been with me and doing things for me my entire life, only it's just now, that I am really listening and learning to do things for HIM. I'm trying to be obdient, it's difficult, until i stop and look at all he's done for me [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] I just find myself getting confused along the way and looking for confirmation that it's HIS will, not mine. Especially with matters of the heart. We get so accustomed to doing things our way...well you guys know what i mean [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] This post is really personal for me, although i'm trying to keep "not so personal" by not going into details.

Please lift me up in your prayers that my eyes and ears be open at all times to those things of God.

Great post CEW,

Don't recall anyone touching this but I must admit I did a quick scan so I could be repeating some of what's already said.

On of the most powerful ways of hearing God's voice is repeat confirmation.

You praying about something, and your thoughts are filled with an ofshoot that makes you think you are straying.

So you reach church and the self same message from your prayer is repeated by the choir by a testimony or most awesome in the message from the preacher, word upon words, thoughts upon thoughts sometimes for days on end.

Its does not mean confirmation of what you asked niether may you get answers immediately to what you seek but the confirmation is there that God's spirit is linked to your spirit and yours linked to the church, its joy, its peace, it is God. Awesome.

accepted: Excellent point, and one with which I am sure some of us can relate. I know that I can, and while it is not the answer to what we are praying about, it is God reminding us that we are not alone. As you say, awesome!

Same as when I was led to the book The power of a praying wife..I just knew I was right girl and my husband was wrong and I started to read with an attitude and God scolded me during the first paragraph [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] nothin like a spankin from God. It hurts.

Another wonderful thread. As VW (I think) state, it's all about having a relationship with him. And Sistagirl I just loved the part where you said once you hear His voice that's it; there's no turning back. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] One thing that I've noticed also is that once He speaks you just automatically want to reverence and worship Him.

You mentioned also Sistagirl about Him spanking [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] us and no it's not a nice feeling. lol. About a couple of months ago my job was offering basketball tickets to see a game in one of the suites. The game was for a month away. I was all over those tickets in a heartbeat. The night before the game I was in bed and happened to wake up in the wee hours of the morning. I layed there thinking of what I'm going to wear and boom - all of a sudden a hear a voice say to me: "Did you even ask me if you can go? Well, you can't. It's not for you" I didn't even have to question the voice because I knew it was Him. I automatically got out of the bed and repented immediately for not consulting Him. And He was right; the environment was not for me at all because I would have been with my co-workers who smoke, curse, drink and carry on.

He certainly is Awesome!

When we know Him as the Father(blood-relation, family, unconditional love, involved; immanence) and not just God(aloof, transcendent,unconcerned)then thats intimacy.
