Were do I begin ???
Well we left for the airport around 2am to get there the 3hours early required by the charter (Skyservice)..what a joke.
After Leaving our van at the Park and Fly and waiting for 25 min. for the suttle bus we made it to the counter about 3am for our 6:10 am flight direct to MoBay.Being this early we got the bulk head seats in the Premier Class section we'd hoped for.Check-in went smoothly and we passed through security and went to the gate to wait and wait.
The duty free opened up around 5am and I got my bottle of Crown Royal and smokes to enjoy during our stay. I'd packed 12 cans of Canada Dry ginger ale to enjoy with the C.R., so far everything was going as planned.
I went to the snack bar and got a bottle of ginger ale to enjoy a pre-flight drink prior to departure. I'd saved a couple of the small sample bottles of C.R. for just this purpose. Not going to let a small thing like the bars at the airport being closed stop me from this tradition.I hate flying and this helps calm me down.
Well around 6:00 am the gate area is full with people and no attendents have shown up yet ??
When they do show , they inform everyone we will be delayed until 7;30 am...oh well I got a drink...no problem.
By 7:30..still no plane. They inform us our plane is on it's way,...soon come..yeah right.
9:30 am..still no plane.
11:30 am still no plane...the folks are getting restless and upset.
They tell us they are bringing a plane from Mexico to pick up our group...yeah right.
12:30 they decide to split this large group into two groups and use two smaller planes.
Half the group is told to go to another gate and planes... soooon come.
Finally the planes do arrive but, we have to wait for the catering company to provide the meal service....ok...still got my drinks, it'll soon be time to crack open my duty free at this rate.
1:00pm we start boarding the smaller planes and surprise...no Premier Class seating on this aircraft.
We finally take off at 1:30 pm...Yippee..were on our way. They start the bar service and tell us because of the delay it an open bar flight...Great..no not really. they have no whisket on the plane only beer, wine, gin, vodka.
This may be a small thing to some ,but to me it's hard to beleive a Canadian airline has no whiskey on a flight....oh well..got the duty free in my carry on..(smile). No one is ruining my flight plans.
We all buy headphones for the movie and Guess what's palyiny...Lilo and Stich....Oh Great..after an uproar from several people the find another movie...can't remember...into the duty free too much to care.
The flight was quick and smooth and the airport transfer was very fast.
We board our bus and I must say the New Road was a breeze. We arrive at our hotel (the Riu) and check-in took about 10 min...the glass of punch helped.
We dropped our bags and put on our swim suits and headed for the beach. From arrival to the ocean was about thirty min and did it feel wonderful.
The only reason we came back to this hotel was because of the beach and Bloody Bay.
After a quick bite at the pizza place by the lobby ( the jerk chicken pizza is great), we go to the room and unpack.
We head down to the bar have one drink and back to the room ...need sleep.
The next day we awake around 5;30 am and we make coffee with the little travel coffee maker we got years ago...what a god send it's been over the years.
I head out early and start towards the Office of Nature to visit old friends there..surprise no ones there...took few shots of the New Riu under construction and of the Bay.

The New hotel is huge..about 600 hundred rooms and is NOT a Riu Palace...but a new sports type place with lots of action I'm told...(whatever that means)
I love the early morining walk on Bloody Bay and spot a few eagle rays and small fish close to shore by The Office.

The first day we do a whole lot of nothing except relax in a beach chair and swim, eat and drink a few....Just Great to be back in the sun.
We awake the next day and eat as soon as the dining room opens...fresh fruit smoothies, a Great plate of fresh fruit and eggs..Mmmmm.
It's overcast so we decide to hook up with some of the people we'd planned to visit during this short week stay.
We grab a route taxi at the end of the driveway (100Ja) and get to town trying to find Suzi at the Hidden Paradise...no luck there, so it's off to Home Sweet Home on the Westend Road to visit with da Pirate.
Ed (Pirate is the new manager of the HSH) is from Canada and we'd met through another board and had been to a bashment in Hamilton and met some great people through him.
The sun was coming out and the bar was open early (around 9:30 ish) so drinks good conversation was starting to put me in a good frame of mind.
A couple of first time vistors came to the bar area and Ed invited them to join us for a welcome drink. Ed had to go to town for some supplies for the hotel and invited them and us, to join him for the walk.
The new Westend road is smooth and walking was a breeze. Now anyone who's ever been on a walk-about in Jamaica knows things don't always go as fast as at home. We stopped at Raggamuffins and got a cold beer and chatted awhile...on to Mi Yard for a another quick drink and a chat with da crew there.
Another stop at Easyrock to say hello to Sue who was under the weather and not looking well at all..as she sat on a chair by the door...poor thing.
A stop at the Negril Yatch Club to see Chuck and Tracy...a few drinks..a little smogging....and on we stumble towards town.
By the time we get to the plaza the new folks on their first walk-about are done like toast...as we say in Canada. They'd planned on getting a few things and looking in a some stores...LOL.
This little walk took FOUR HOURS...!!!
We say good bye to Pirate and catch a route taxi back to the Riu....for a late lunch...very late.
the rest of the day was a blurr, I know we swam, ate and I drank few...the wife doesn't drink or smog at all....thank Jah someone's in control in Jamaica.
More to come ..New Years, a walk on Seven Mile with pics and our visit to Sav...by route cab and a visit with the Ricardo from the Torrington School.
