Very enjoyable trip report so far JD, with or without picures..I feel like I'm there. Chef is a very good driver, isn't he? Nice, relaxing ride.

I enjoyed a few stripes and good company on the veranda while looking at the sea.

I slept well with the sea breeze blowing in my window. The sheer curtains kept the 'squitos out like a screen.

In the morning I walked the beach and then went in to Port Maria by route taxi. Blender was kind enough to hang out with me. There are plenty of shops & sidewalk merchants. (there is a cambio)I picked a few new CD's. The fruit market had everything but Mango. I got some yummy papaya, star apple & pineapple. I enjoyed brown stewed chicken & calaloo for breakfast. Then back to Sea Lawn for coffee with Libby. The weather was slightly overcast, so I just hung out & chatted and enjoyed looking at the sea. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Libby showed me the likkle shops on the road. I had a lovely dinner of King Fish, fried plantains, potatoes & string beans. This was my first taste of King fish. Yummy !!!

I let George & Taft check out my CD's. Taft became the selector while I was there.

I can validate that chef is a wonderful driver and companion having been with him twice.. and my son is nuts for him!! He asks almost regulary are we going to chefs? are we going to chefs? I want to go to chefs?? like a broken record... and libby.. well anyone who has chatted with her or met her knows shes one darling [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Now JD.. its been almost a weeks since you are back and this is the only morsel you give us??? come on now.. keep it going... I hear you got a stash of papers with numbers on them in your pockets

I'm so comfortable & relaxed I don't want to move. Libby put out a platter of fresh fruits to nibble on this am.

Chef is driving to George to Runaway Bay, so I go along for the ride. We stop & buy a nice birthday cake for Libby. Chef, Blender & I plot to hide the cake in the van. Chef will let me know when Libby is distracted & I'll hide the cake in my room till tonight.

we get back to the house. Libby is busy in the Kitchen. Chef signals us to get the cake. I see Blender hurrying twoards the back with the cake. I go to unlock my door. But, where is Blender with the cake [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] . I find Blender Minus the cake [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] . He handed it to "Miss Liz" [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] . So much for tonights suprise [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] .

I headed down to the sea.
I have to say that I saw more locals swimming in Port Maria, than anywhere else I've been in Jamaica.

I spent the day swimming & snorkeling. I didn't make it out to the reef, though. I'm not a really strong swimmer. (I should have brought one of the "noodles" (floats) with me. I could still see plenty of fish & coral. Lots of "Brain Coral" lying around for the taking. Lovely relaxing day

We had a luscious dineer of Ackee & Saltfish, fried breadfruit, plaintains & rice. This was my first taste of fried bread fruit. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] YUMMY! I'm hooked !!

Libby, Blender & I took a route taxi in to Ochie. we had planned to meet up with Mikey Dread & his lady friend, but never found them. Blender kept the dogs at bay for us [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] . One cheecky guy asked him to give him one of his girls [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] .

We went to Margueritaville(?spelling). when we arrived it was a pretty quiet. But Red stripes lights were 2 for 1,& lovers rock playing for a nice vibe. (later it was all American hip hop [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] ) I'm in Jamaica !! I want Reggae.

We lasted till atleast 2am (can't remmember exactly). We grabbed a bit of chicken cooked over a wood fire to much on. We hired a Taxi back to castle Garden. (Taxi's & route taxi's run all night between Ochie & Port Maria).
I crashed & slept like a log !!

I woke in the morning with the first hangover I remmember having in Jamaica [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] .

I had hardough toast with guava jelly & coffee and felt better.

I spent the early part of the day playing in the water on noodles with Libby & George. A couple of local likkle ones joined us. (These noodle things are great !!).

In the afternoon Libby, George and I walked in to Port Maria, escorted by Rambo. Walking in Jamiaca is one of my favorite things to do. We walked down Pagee beach and a young guy (about 17) aked me to tkae his photo but didn't smile [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] . We walked down crossing the river to the rasta Camp. There was a huge water trike sitting there (which george took a shine to.)

On the way back a little guy (about 3-4 years old) looked up , smiled reached out & shook my hand. (It happened so fast I didn't get his picture). The same 17 year old asked to have his photo taken with me. Libby took the photo, but he still didn't smile [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] . A group of boys also posed for photos.

As we walked in to town a young lady (about 18) came out of her house wraped in a towel and asked the we take her photo.. We complied, she posed (sticking out her butt for the photo). Probably made Georges day !!
I'll send copies of these photos out to Libby shortly / if she sees these folks around they can have their photo).

We stopped for a patty & a cold drink. Rambo deserted us at this point (Libby said he must have seen something he fancied [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] ).

We route taxied it home, and worried till Rambo appeared.

I had another lovely dinner of brown stewed chicken, rice peas & fresh string beans on the veranda. I was tired & lazy. Blender was kind enough to go take some photos of 2 little boys up on villa rd. for me. (I had promised, but was beat.).

I spent my last evening on the veranda enjoying the veiw & good company.

(I mention the food because I can't believe the meals I get in these little "Mom & Pop" places for very little $. And I also like to eat [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ). I ate like a queen [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] .No hotel can cook like that !!!

JD.. nice reporting.. I can feel like I am there while you are telling it.. maybe because I visited there and I can see the house, yard, road to PM and Pagee Beach.. Sure sounds like they took good care of you and fed you like a queen.. I am hoping I too can taste breadfruit on this trip.. I'd be happy just to see what it looks like [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

JD..it was great to see you & my cake was still a real treat even if Blenda did mess it up I was really touched & it was yummy bad, I have a pic I'll try & load it up soon...just so busy at the moment,but not complaining...I glad you enjoyed the food, I'm waiting for a breadfruit to ripen next door!Tafari is taking over some of the cooking for me now, he's a great cook & really knows how to handle fish,lobster & conch & his fried dumplins are really nice...I looking forward to your T.B report
