Libby, what a wonderful time you had except for the police stop. Thanks for sharing details of your trip. If i come back this summer I want to re-visit Port Antonio as its one of the most beautiful parts of the island and a lot less hoopla than Negril. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Sammy, yes...Jah Priest is the same man as in the book Rasta Heart by Robert Roskind...he looks just the same,wise & wonderful...I cant wait to go back & spend some time with him, didn't see Scram though...Ras Kind was here not long ago donig some concerts to promote Peace & Love in Jamaica, he had Luciano & Abijah performing.
he's a very interesting man & I found his book fun, insightful & acurate....Well worth a read.

oh (((Libby))) yu made mi cry, with longing to be home again, i knoh all those places yu mentioned. did not realize how much i need it till i read your report. that resturant in Buff Bay use to be owned by the Bells dont knoh if they still do.

We took a road trip from Negril to PA last month. We planned to stay in PA, but found lodging in the area to be a bit pricey. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] We then traveled to Long Bay for better prices but everything was booked, except for Miss Precious' house
On my next trip I would love to spend more time in beautiful Portland. Does anyone know of any nice spots to stay?

Cali...most places in PA are expensive but there are a good selection around the US$50p.n range.
Frenchmans Cove offers a walk in rate of US$50 -80p.n. Draper San is around US45p.n.
San San Tropez ia also around the same price.

The new updated Lonely Planet book should be out now (3rd edition) a good book to get. Lots of stuff out of date in old book now.
Look out for our place under Port Maria section!

The updated Rough Guide should be out later this year as well, Polly was here a few weeks ago, so thats another must get guide book.
There is a hostal on Kings Street in PA town for around US$20p.n but not sure how it is now.
My advice is get the books!

Grandma2...bwoy your the last person I want to make cry...dont know if Bells still own it but I'll be stopping there again. There is a big fancy place futher down the road that the tour buses use, but I bet one breakfast there cost more than our 3 put together! The dumplin's were well light & nice & no bones in the ackee & saltfish..you been giving then cooking lessons? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Thank you!! We are hoping to get to PA for the first few days of our March trip...just waiting to see if we'll have the $$ to do that (as we're spending the rest of the time in Negril).
