Oh Libby, I just logged on to see this report online, to make sure we really were there. Thanks to your great driving skills I got to revist a place that stayed in my mind for all these years.
I just want to add for those of you who will be lucky enough to get to spend some time at Reach Falls, that for me and I think Libby and our large Dread friend, that hour or so brought an inner peace that lasted long into the next day.
When I first saw Reach Falls about 16 years ago, I called it God's shower and I remember tearing up as I climed the stairs to leave, at the thought I probably wouldn't see it again for a long time. I was right about that but glad to see that unlike other natural spots that I have revisited after a time that have been changed by government or private businesses, Reach Falls is still a magical place. Ivanhoe Guest house on Queen St. in the heart of Pt. Antonio is quite reasonable. DeMontevin Inn is a bit more but also in the heart of the town.
Bonnie View on the hill overlooking the town is fabulous but the rooms are not touristy more moderate for not the fussy traveller.
LibbyT how did you not go to Winnifred`s Beach which is on a turn off on the way to Boston?
It is secluded away from the road but always occupied by the Dreads that keep it clean and offer other attractions.
The Reach Falls has been kept out of Govt. hands by the very people who live in the area. They have been approached and threatened to have the place run by the (UDC) Urban Development Corporation. Up to now it remains unspoilt and not commercialized like Dunns River Falls.
the further east you go the more remote.
you can sit in the middle of the main road out by Manchioneal and Hectors River without a vehicle coming in the next 10 minutes. Just to elaborate the contrasting traffic to that out west in the Negril area.

Q..I didn't know where the turn off was...I always though it was way past there.
If I'd have know I'd have gone.
Definately going there next time, can you get food there?

Are there any places to rent motorcycles or scooters in PA?

If we could do that, I'd feel less like we needed a car....
